2017 Ripley County 4-H Fair activities get underway

The 2017 Ripley County 4-H Fair opened with activity in the horse and pony area with halter class events. It was called off due to approximately two inches of rain that had drenched the show arena the night before the Sunday morning debut.
Taking it all in stride, the show continued in the grass area in front of the barn, through halter classes. Another threatening storm brought about the postponement of the remainder of the day’s scheduled activity until Friday evening.
The next schedule altered was the Kevin Menchhofer antique tractor pull, slated for a 10 a.m. onset in front of the grandstand. With the track conditions too wet an out was opted and used. Competitors could battle it out, after a move of the pull, at Kevin Menchhofer’s inside pull facility at Kev’s Field of Dreams located just out of Osgood. As it was an extension of the fair, the Osgood Lions sold concession food and drinks via member Gary McCoy.
