JCD Eagles fell 1-5 in the IHSAA Class 1A Boys Baseball Sectional #60 at Shawe to SD Cougars

A most unusual ending to the spring sports season for the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles, as their extended season hopes were denied by South Decatur Cougar teams. An opening game for JCD at home slated the visiting Cougars and Eagles in action, in what developed into a nail-biter by game’s end where JCD got off to a good start, faltered, then trailed and knotted the game at nine off a Grand Slam by senior Ben Harlemert before arriving at the needed scoring of one run to claim victory in the bottom of the seventh inning. Such would not be the case in opening IHSAA Sectional #60 at Madison Shawe High School, as the Eagles fell by games end to a count of 1-5.
Senior Eagle hard-ballers Matthew Drockelman, Reuben Benham, Ben Harlemert, Cody Campbell, and Rodney Dobbs will be missed as the next years JCD baseball season rolls around. Rising Sun defeated host Shawe 7-1, Oldenburg fell 0-5 to Hauser. Rising Sun defeated Hauser 4-0. Jac-Cen-Del fell 1-5 to South Decatur before RS claimed Championship 9-4 over SD.
At the Morristown Regional, Rising Sun won the morning game over White River Valley 7-2, but fell to Indianapolis Lutheran in the Regional Championship contest1-6.
