Coach Wade’s Lady Indians look to final tennis games of the season

Milan Indians Head Tennis Coach Zach Wade has found the wet spring a hard one to get practice time, as well as scheduled matches in, as have all spring sports venturers of 2016.

At the time of writing, Coach Wade’s Lady Indians tennis team had a match slated at SMHS vs. the Madison Shawe Lady Hilltoppers on Monday evening, May 9, at 5 p.m., a home match on Tuesday May 10 vs. Franklin County’s Lady Wildcats and were slated on the road at South Dearborn High School for a 5 p.m. start on Monday, May 16. Coach Wade and his teams are ever competitive and ready to get the game on!
This spring’s young, 24-member Milan High School Lady Indians Tennis Team finds but one senior member on the squad, Rebecca Moore. Six juniors include Jessica Berger, Winona Hopson, Ashley Bowling, Kristina Marksberry, Morgan Meyer, and Tanner Thompson. Nine Sophomores include: Rebecca Schmitt, Abby Riehle, Elizabeth Reckers, Shelby Harris, Tulsi Patel, Tori Haessig, Alexis Lowe, Sophia Pittman, and Delani Weber. Eight freshmen joined the MHS tennis team in 2016 and are Harley Bruns, Margo Taylor, Savannah Baldwin, Kayla Jarrett, Mackenzie Derico, Megan Berger, Nicole Theilmann, and Carlie Hopson.
Home-hosted action of April 25 at Milan High School resulted in a Lady Indians 5-0 Match victory count at Meet’s end over the visiting Waldron Lady Mohawks. As reported by Brian Moline of MHS, the Lady Indians pulled away with a clean sweep with #1 singles, Jessica Berger winning 6-0, 6-1; #2 singles Winona Hopson winning 6-0, 6-0; #3 singles action found Ashley Bowling winning 6-0, 6-0; #1 doubles of Kristina Marksberry and Morgan Meyer winning 7-5, 6-0; while #2 MHS doubles of Tulsi Patel and Tori Haessig claimed consecutive 6-0, 6-0 scores to victory as well!
