Damp would be putting it mildly; however, with warming temps and a breeze less than the brisk chill of winter (until the sun dropped) the annual South Ripley Raiders Golf Invitational Meet was held as scheduled at Hoosier Links Golf Course in Milan on April 12 with Rising Sun capturing the top spot.

The honored Annual South Ripley Raiders 2016 Golf Invitational All-Invite Team pictured from left includes Jac-Cen-Del Eagle senior and Meet Medalist at 40 Lucas Williams, Rising Sun Shiner senior Aaron Walker at 43, Rising Sun Shiner sophomore Sam Markland at 45, Milan Indian senior Drew Honnert at 45, and Switzerland County Pacer junior Josh Tice at 49.
Teams competing in the tournament included Jac-Cen-Del Eagles, Milan Indians, Rising Sun Shiners, Switzerland County Pacers, and South Ripley Raiders, led by Golf Head Coach Mark Guard. Jac-Cen-Del Eagles senior Lucas Williams continued from his last season triumphs acquiring another Meet Medalist Award with his 9-hole, round shot at 40.
Team and individual scoring was shy of most player’s expectations, though weather conditions likely had something to do with that. Scoring goals are expected to improve as conditions and actual time on the course is extended. Weather permitting, the South Ripley Raiders and Jac-Cen-Del Eagles are next slated for action on Monday, April 18, at the Hoosier Links Golf Course in Milan with a 4:30 p.m. tee time. Milan High School is slated to host South Decatur at Hoosier Links on Thursday, April 14.
