Charles A. Lawburgh, Jr.
Charles A. Lawburgh, Jr., 91, of Milan, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at the Veterans Hospital in Cincinnati. Charles was born on August 30, 1925 in Bulan, KY to Charles A. Lawburgh and Isabel Fugate Lawburgh.
In 1943 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the 123rd Naval Construction Battalion in Midway during WWII. On November 27, 1949, Charles married Betty Matney who preceded him in death on December 24, 2002. Charles was a member of the U.S. Air Force for 25 years and served his country again in Vietnam. From 1971 to 1973 he was enlisted in the Army National Guard. He was the recipient of the Air Force Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross. Charles was employed at the Fernald Uranium Processing Plant and worked for the Milan and Sunman-Dearborn Community School Corporations as a custodian. On April 17, 2011 Charles married Glenna Casebolt. Charles was a member of Hope Baptist Church, American Legion and Gideons International.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Britt Godsey and Harold Lawburgh, and his wife Betty Matney Lawburgh. Charles is survived by his wife, Glenna Casebolt Lawburgh; his children, Charlene Whitaker, John (Belinda) Lawburgh, David (Andrea) Lawburgh, Mary Ellen (Steve) Woolum and Terri Clayton; stepsons Chuck Casebolt and Brent (Amy) Casebolt. He leaves behind 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday, December 20 at 10 a.m. at Hope Baptist Church, 15593 US 50 Dillsboro, IN 47018, with Pastor Tom Holt officiating. Burial will follow at Craven Cemetery in Milan with full military rites at the gravesite. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 p.m. at Hope Baptist Church. Nancy Cornett
Nancy Cornett, 70, of Milan, passed away at U.C. Medical Center on Sunday, December 11, 2016 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Nancy was born Friday, September 27, 1946 in Milan; the daughter of Clayton and Mary (Negangard) Haessig. She married Eli Cornett June 26, 1965 and he preceded her in death June 8, 2013.
Nancy was a homemaker. Nancy enjoyed teaching Sunday school, fixing meals with the ladies and the church, camping, crocheting, watching grandchildren at their sporting events, doing ceramics, taking pictures, playing cards but mostly she loved spending time with her family.
Nancy is survived by sons: Todd (Nikki) Cornett of Lawrenceburg, Aaron (Sharon) Cornett of Milan, and Bryan (Melissa) Cornett of Cincinnati; brothers: Pat Henry Haessig of Washington D.C., Randy Haessig of Mexico; sister: Elaine Mortara of Versailles; five grandchildren: Sarah, Emily, Landon, Lucas and Chelsea. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband
Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, December 17 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 8930 N. St. Road 101, Sunman 47041 with Pastor Bill Helms officiating. Nicholas Lee Morrow, 43, of Palmyra, Pennsylvania, and formerly of Sunman, passed away Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016.
