2016-17 ORVC Boys Basketball Jamboree held at SRHS

South Ripley High School acted as host for the 2016-17 seven member school annual Ohio River Valley Conference (ORVC) Boys Basketball Jamboree on Saturday, November 19, with action commencing at center court at 1 p.m.

First up for a quarter’s action were the South Ripley Raiders, led by Head Coach Travis Wrightsman against the Switzerland County Pacers behind Head Coach Adam Dennis. The final score at the end of on a quarter's play found South Ripley with a two point edge at 19-17.
SR 19-17 SC
Senior Raiders include: Cory Walker, Tyler Cole and Charlie Turner. Juniors included: Derek Turner, Jacob Moore, Avery Halcomb, Dillon McQueen, Zach Pickett and Corey Welch ands sophomore Luke Welch. The Raider JV coach is Brad Samples with Curtis Stephen the freshman boys coach. Switzerland County seniors included: Casper Stow, Dakota Fuller, Kollin Hayes, Zack Wainscott and Hunter Hayes. Pacer Juniors: Austin South, Justin Chatham, Kenyon Bledsoe, Tyler Perry, Kyle Whitham, Tryston Kielbasa and Justin Green. Sophomores: AJ Covington, Dalton Tingle, Cade Rider, Harrison Griffis, and Tyler Konkle. Freshmen: Patrick Stow, Landon Wilkes, Damian Breecki, Coby Chase, and Zack Weaver.
SC 19-10 JCD
The Jac-Cen-Del Eagle slate for 2016-17 includes: Head Coach Travis Stangland, JV Coach Brad Goldsberry and Freshman Coach Jake Todd. The Eagles have no senior members. Juniors are: Jared Cline, Conner Hubbard, Quentin Comer, Michael Flint, Joel Tunny and Michael Schmitt. Sophomore: Adrian Peetz and two Freshmen; Justin Ohlmansiek and Brandon Baber. The Pacers battled to a nine point edge over JCD in their quarter of play.
RS 7-6 JCD
The Rising Sun Shiner slate for 2016-17 includes Head Coach Chris Jones with JV Coach Brian Graham. Shiner Seniors: Tristan Brown, Angelo Gallegos and Brandon Benning. Juniors are: Trevor Levi, Jason McClellan, Brent Turner and Trenton Gindley. Sophomores: Jacob Bovard, Nick Koons and Noah Pflum. The Shiners eked out a one point edge at 7-6 over JCD by horn’s sounding.
RS 9-2 Shawe
The Shawe Hilltoppers are led by Head Coach Phil Kahn, JV Coach Mike Koehler with a host of assistants Their senior slate for 2016-17 includes: Christopher Grote, and Joel Carrillo Valentin. Juniors: Wyatt Alexander, Nick Weatherbee and Brayden Sedam. Sophomores: Joseph Liste, Leon Kinne, Schuyler Edwards and Bryan Avalas. Freshman members: Chris Powers, Chandler Cole, Nate Pawlak, Ethan Stuart and TJ Stitzel. Milan 12-11 Shawe
The Milan Indians are led by Head Coach Josh Blankinship and JV Coach Drew Young. Having very recently finished an extended football run, the tribe played JV team basically, save senior Jordan Burton. Junior: Connor Miles and Sophomores: Joel Norman, Damon Ward, George Burton, AJ Strassell and Bent Quatman competed. A Norman 3 at the horn warranted the Indian edge. However, a much different team can be expected once the season starts.
Milan 15-13 Sw Hanover
The Southwestern Hanover Rebels are led by Head Coach Jerry Bombholt and JV Coach Larry Wynn. Seniors are: Tommy Grossman, Jayde Ary, Alex Ball, Tryston Wheatley, Chase Dunfee and Derrik Bell. Juniors: Christan Balboa, and Coleman Jones and sophomore Tyler Kramer. A pair of FT sinks by Indian Connor Miles sealed the two point edge for the tribe, with six seconds to go.
