Rev. Duane Loos, 78, passed away Saturday afternoon at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 10 at the Community United Methodist Church. Entombment will follow in the Shrine of Memory Cemetery at Connersville, Indiana at 2:30 Thursday. Memorials may be made in his memory to either St. Paul United Methodist or Community United Methodist Church, Sunman Fire Dept or Sunman Rescue 20 through the funeral home. Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan was in charge of the arrangements.

Linda Colleen “Pooh” McDarment Mullins
Linda Colleen “Pooh” McDarment Mullins, 56, of Versailles, passed away Friday, September 4, 2015. Linda’s wishes were to be cremated and scattered with no formal service.The family requests memorials in memory of Linda to the Hospice of KDH or Schneck Memorial Hospital Cancer Center or the American Diabetes Association, contribution cards are available at the funeral home. Robena Torwelle
Robena Torwelle, age 91, of Milan, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2015 at the Waters of Batesville. Robena was born July 28, 1924 in BearCreek Township, Ohio County, to August and Clara (Thomas) Torwelle.
Robena attended schools in Dillsboro and Cross Plains, and graduated from Milan High School in 1943. She was employed for over 40 years at Seagrams Distillery in the lab, and also worked at Krueger-Mattox for three years part time. She loved cats, and fed the birds in her yard daily, enjoyed listening to country music, and sent cards to people all the time. She was a very tender hearted person, and did a lot of traveling. Robena was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Farmers Retreat for many years.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Torwelle. Surviving is her sister-in-law, Viola Torwelle, of Sunman; two nieces, who looked after her and took care of her, Geraldine (Marty) McKinney of Batesville, and Diane (Dan) Scheidler of Greensburg; four great nieces and nephews; Hannah and Wesley McKinney, and Michael and Annalie Scheidler.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 12, at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Farmers Retreat, with her pastor, Rev. Garry Wickert officiating. Friends may meet her family at the church from 11 a.m. until the service time on Saturday. She will be laid to rest in St. John Cemetery in Farmers Retreat. Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church or to the Milan Fire Dept. Arrangements are entrusted to DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro.

John R. Kieffer
John R. Kieffer, 86, of Versailles, passed away at 12:45 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2015 at home. He was born in Cincinnati on August 28, 1929, the son of John and Leona Roder Kieffer. He was married to Mary Block on September 8, 1951 and his wife of 64 years survives. Other survivors include three sons, Robert (Frances) Kieffer of North Vernon, Jerry (Krista) Kieffer of Cape Coral, Florida, and Marc (Samantha) Kieffer of Lawrenceburg; one daughter, Yvonna (Peter) Dotson of Cleveland, Tennessee; 12 grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Kieffer was a former resident of Rushville and Lawrenceburg where he worked as a mechanic for various car dealers in both towns as well as Meyer’s Garage and also Schenleys, both in Lawrenceburg. He also worked independently as an over the road trucker hauling steel, retiring to Versailles in 1979. John served with the US Army during the Korean War as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne. He also served with Company D of the 2nd Medic Battalion at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. Some of John’s hobbies included being a midget race car driver while living in Rushville as well as trap shooting at the Brush Creek Conservation Club at Butlerville. John was a member of the Benham United Methodist Church, Teamsters Union, and was a 62 year member of the Versailles American Legion.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 9 at the Benham United Methodist Church with Bro. Jerry Brooks officiating. Burial was in the Akers Cemetery at Friendship with military honors by the Versailles American Legion. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Hospice of Jennings County or the Benham United Methodist Church in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles.
