South Ripley Lady Raiders battle it out for the last time

Opening JV volleyball action between the visiting Rising Sun Lady Shiners and the hosting South Ripley Lady Raiders on Tuesday, October 14 at SRHS resulted in the need for a third game to 15 to determine the match winner.

The Lady Shiners JV played their way to a first game victory at 25-17. The SR Lady Raiders JV avenged the opening game loss by a final count of 25-22 before taking the match by a 15-7 count for the victory. The varsity match would have a different result, as the Lady Shiners played victoriously for back-to-back opening and second game wins by scores of 25-20 and 25-22. The hosting Lady Raiders captured game three at 25-23 forcing a fourth game in the match where RS won 25-16. The varsity match opening game resulted in ties at 2, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15 and 16 before the Shiners gained the momentum needed to claim game one. In varsity game two action, ties were noted at 3, 7, 18, 19 and 21 with Sidney Steinhauer serving to an SR lead at 19-18. SR glory faded after RS regained its composure and played to the 25-22 win.
Game three action included a tie at 1 before SR stepped it up to enjoy a lead; however, RS knotted the game again at 9. A tie was again noted at 11 before SR Lady Raider Kayla King served to a 17-12 SR lead. The Lady Shiners were unable to regroup before SR had the game three victory, forcing a fourth game. Game four had ties at 1 and 8 before the Lady Shiners rallied to dominate for a game four match victory 3 games to 1.
