day she died.
The family of Cierra Adams is organizing a walk
and candlelight vigil for the 18-year-old who died
July 16, on her birthday. While the autopsy has

Post
Offices in Ripley County could be affected by the
latest announcement on Tuesday from the U.S. Postal
Service.
Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe announced at
a news conference that they are exploring ways to
save money. Saying they have lost a tremendous amount
of first class mail revenue, they are looking at
closing over 3,000 post offices and possibly going
to five day mail service, eliminating the Saturday
delivery.

Sarah Wenning had great stage presence that
took the eye of the judges at the 2011 Miss
Ripley County Pageant held Sunday evening, July
10 at the Damm Theatre in Osgood. She looked
regal in her shimmering emerald colored gown
as she took the 2011 coveted title of Miss Ripley
County.
Wennings parents, Paul and Sandy, joined
her on stage immediately after the pageant.
As they congratulated their daughter, they said
this was her first time to be in a pageant.
The 19-year-old said she would describe herself
as shy, but told the Osgood Journal she
is looking forward to being with people at the
upcoming 4-H fair. I will enjoy handing
out awards, she said. She said she looks
forward to representing her community. She is
a graduate of Jac-Cen-Del High School and will
be a sophomore at the University of Southern
Indiana.

Vaccine
changes delayed until January
|
Wanda
English Burnett
Editor
Earlier this year a story was published
about changes in the local health department
regarding vaccines. The state health department
had sent information saying local departments
were to no longer give vaccines to people
with health insurance. They were to provide
vaccines only to under insured and uninsured
individuals beginning July 1.
That deadline has been pushed back to January
1, 2012, according to information from local
health nurse Vicky Powell. According to
Indiana State Health Commissioner Dr. Gregory
Larkin, this delay will help with the back-to-school
immunization push for children to meet school
entry requirements.
