Eleven hopeful teams of students descended upon Jac-Cen-Del High School on March 3 to compete in the 2018 Rube Goldberg Machine Contest. This regional contest divided teams into middle and high school levels, where the task of the year was to pour a bowl of cereal. Rube Goldberg machines are built to be whimsical and humorous, and integrate a complex number of steps to achieve a simple goal. This year, middle school teams were required to have a minimum of 10 steps to complete their goal, while high schoolers were required to create 20 steps.
