Versailles Shooting Team places first at Friendship meet
Nathan May captures overall honors
According to Coach Jerry Hewitt, the Versailles American Legion Post Shooting Team acted as hosts at the Friendship meet on Saturday, January 27th, where Georgetown, Jasper and Seymour, along with Versailles competed. There were 36 shooters from the four teams competing. Versailles took 1st and 3rd in prone, 1st in standing, along with 2nd and 3rd in kneeling division shooting.

Over-all medal and ribbon earners pictured at left from left include: 1st place Nathan May at 267-5 of Team Versailles, 2nd place John Hamilton at 259-6 of Team SIRPC and 3rd place Abigayle Seitz at 233-2 of Jasper.
Shooting to a collective score of 267-5, was Nathan May, Versailles, who captured Meet 1st over all honors while also establishing a new team record for the Versailles team. Three of the four Indiana State Rifle and Pistol Association awards presented for different classes, were earned by the Versailles shooters. The awards were presented by Mrs. Konnie Couch from 'Friends of The NRA.
"Proudly our Friendship meet also included a guest speaker, Mr. Bill Beard, who was on the 1980 Olympic team", added Coach Hewitt.
