Versailles resident promoted to ISP dispatch supervisor


According to information from Sgt. Stephen Wheeles, Public Information Officer for the Indiana State Police, a promotion was given to Amanda Lawson on December 31, 2017. Lawson was an ISP Region IV Dispatcher and was promoted to IV Dispatch Shift Supervisor.

The 1993 graduate of South Ripley High School has been with the Indiana State Police since June of 2010. She graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and also obtained an Associate’s Degree from Vincennes University. Lawson was hired as a regional dispatcher for the Area IV Dispatch Center in Versailles. She lives in Versailles and is a member of the Benham United Methodist Church and a member of the Versailles chapters of the Order of Eastern Star and American Auxiliary.

Sgt. Wheeles noted that Supervisor Lawson will now be supervising other dispatchers who work out of the Region IV Center at the Versailles Post, which covers the Indiana State Police Versailles and Sellersburg Districts.



Margaret Mary Health welcomes last baby of 2017, first baby of 2018

Every January, special recognition is given to the first baby born at Margaret Mary Health in the new year. Thanks to H&R Block, the last baby of 2017 (pictured at right) also received attention and giveaways. Born at 8:38 a.m. on Dec. 29, Elijah Wayne Cox was the last baby born at Margaret Mary in 2017 to parents Ashley Johnson and Matthew Cox, of Shelbyville. Delivered by Jeff Hatcher, MD, he weighed 7 lbs., 14 oz. and was 20 inches long. For being the last baby of 2017, H&R Block gave Elijah a basket full of goodies. He was welcomed home by big brothers, Brycen, 6 and Colton, 20 months.

Arriving at 7:47 a.m. on Jan. 2, Presley Wayne Speer became the first baby born at Margaret Mary in 2018. Delivered by Thomas Brown, MD, his parents are Jeffery and Chelsea Speer of Greensburg. He weighed 9 lbs., .6 oz. and was 20 inches long. For being the first baby of 2018, Margaret Mary presented Presley with a Babies “R” Us gift card. He was welcomed home by big brother, Cooper. 2.
