Eula Sizemore


Eula Sizemore, 75, of Osgood, passed away at 7:32 a.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Manderley Health Care in Osgood. She was born in Linefork, Kentucky on May 9, 1942, the daughter of Lue and Arnie Caudill Roark.

Survivors include three sons Randy (Lisa) Sizemore of Holton, Robert (Billie) Sizemore of Versailles and Edward Sizemore of Versailles; several grandchildren; one great grandson; seven sisters, Lola Cook of Harrison, Ohio, Bonnie Kieffer of Holton, Thelma Osbourne of Vevay, Georgia Sparks of Osgood, Tina Wingate of Bennington, Bonnita Halcomb of Linefork, Kentucky and Martha Hammons of Canaan; five brothers, Harley Roark of Holton, John Roark of Madison, Joe Roark of Osgood, Jim Roark of Holton and Mark Roark of Linefork, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Joe; three sisters: Anna Mae Ahaus, Dana Craig and Ola Simon.

Ms. Sizemore worked for more than 25 years at US Shoe in Osgood and retired from Madison Precision. Eula was a member of the Madison American Legion Auxiliary, Madison VFW Auxiliary, Little Memory Old Regular Baptist Church, and Madison Eagles. Eula loved to play bingo, and loved to be with her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 19 at 11 a.m. at Little Memory Old Regular Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Wingate officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday starting at 9 a.m. at the church. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Little Memory Cemetery in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.


Lula “Mae” (Adams) Vaughn

Lula “Mae” (Adams) Vaughn, age 79, of Batesville, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018, at UC Hospital in Cincinnati, surrounded by her family. She was born a coal miner’s daughter on October 1, 1938 in Whitesburg, Kentucky. Mae spent her childhood growing up with her brothers and sisters in the mountains of Kentucky. When she was 17, her family uprooted and moved to Sunman where they made their new home.

Mae worked early on for the Batesville Casket Company. However, life quickly changed when her brother, Bill, introduced her to a young man from Hamilton, Ohio. Fresh out of the military, Donald Vaughn and she began a courtship and were united in marriage on October 22, 1960. Their three children became her focus and it wasn’t until they were older that she returned to work for over fifteen years at the Dryerhaus Nursing Home in Batesville. The Vaughn’s established their home outside of Batesville in 1964, spending their life together until Don’s passing in 2006. Some of her greatest enjoyments were sewing and watching whatever TV show Steve Harvey was involved with along with Pastor Joel Osteen. But Mae’s greatest love was her family and she always enjoyed being in their company.

Mae was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald; son, Albert Steve; sister, Sue Trent; along with brothers, Albert Jr., Ed, Harlan and Woody. She is survived by daughters: Jenny Lee (Mike) Reynolds of New Point and Debra (Kevin) Murrish of Batesville. Also surviving is sister, Virginia Moore of Millhousen and brothers, Floyd (Debbie), Ben (Debbie) and Kenny (Marcia) all of Batesville, and Bill of Florida, along with four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 18 at 1 p.m. at Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood, followed with burial at South Park Cemetery in Greensburg. Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood, is entrusted with arrangements.


Marvin Earl “Paps” Tittle

Marvin Earl “Paps” Tittle, age 80, of Canaan, formerly of Milton, died on Monday, January 15, 2018. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 19 at 1 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison with burial in the Mahoney Cemetery in Trimble County, Kentucky. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and Friday from 12 Noon until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Milton Christian Church. Gary Ralph “Cookie” Cook

Gary Ralph “Cookie” Cook, age 67, of Canaan, near Pleasant died suddenly in a house fire on Saturday, January 13, 2018, in his home due to smoke inhalation. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 20 at 1 p.m. at the Canaan Community Academy Gymnasium, Canaan. Interment will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens, near Madison. Friends may visit Saturday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Canaan Community Academy Gymnasium. Memorials may be made to the Gary and Bev Cook Remembrance Fund. Effie Beard Cook Rich Armes, age 93, of Canaan, died on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street in Vevay.
