The list of improvements made to the Ripley County 4-H Fairgrounds park in 2017 were many and greatly appreciated. New aluminum bleachers aligned the show arena and a concrete pad outside of the cattle barn were paid for by a grant from the Rising Sun Regional Foundation (RSRF). A new entrance sign to the fairgrounds welcoming guests to the park facility was also installed. A new zero turn riding lawn mower was purchased to aid in care of the facility. Other improvements included a new shelter constructed by Laughery Valley Co-op, gravel added in back parking lot, a new roof on the commercial building, and improvements made to the drainage system. Also, old fluorescent lighting was replaced with new LED lights for energy efficiency and improved lighting.
The next big upcoming event will be the The FARM Club SWAP MEET and truck drags event at the park on Saturday, September 23.
