Dedicated youth, and beautifully kept and well-trained horses performed at the 2017 Ripley County 4-H 3rd Annual Horse & Pony Show at the Ripley County Fairgrounds in Osgood on Saturday and Sunday, June 10 and 11. This was the biggest and best show to date. On Saturday morning at 8 a.m., bright-eyed and bushy tailed, the event began to unfold in the show arena. The 86 4-H’ers representing 12 Indiana Counties included Bartholomew, Brown, Dearborn, Decatur, Franklin, Jackson, Jefferson, Jennings, Ohio, Rush, Switzerland, and hosting Ripley battled it out in 100 of 107 offered classes which included 117 horse/rider combinations. Mother Nature provided fantastic weather and the hosts provided perfect arena and contesting conditions. Saturday’s venue went to well after dark under the lights with Western Type Halter Classes, Western Type Showmanship Classes and Contesting Classes #1-63, with the English Style Hunter Halter and Showmanship Classes #64-107 continuing at 8 a.m. on Sunday to their completion.
