Chris C. Tyler

Chris C. Tyler, 67, of Holton, passed away at 11:20 a.m. on Sunday, June 11, 2017, at Premier Health Care Center in North Vernon. Born December 24, 1949, in Holton, Mr. Tyler was the son of Robert Lige and Zora Belle Johnson Tyler. He married Nancy Oliver on August 28, 1982 in Holton, she survives.

Mr. Tyler was a graduate of South Ripley High School in Ripley County. He retired in 2015 from Cummins Engine Company in Columbus for 43 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren; he was strong in his Christian beliefs and his faith in God. Mr. Tyler loved traveling to see covered bridges, in the fall to see the leaves change color and going to the Smokey Mountains; he liked going in caves and working on his two cars a Trans-Am and Corvette.

Surviving with his wife, Nancy Tyler are sons, Chad A. Tyler of Las Vegas, Nevada and Troy (Kim) W. Porter of Versailles; daughters, Brandy (Scott) Phelps of Plant City, Florida, Penny Jones of North Vernon and Patricia (Doug) Edwards of Westport; brothers, Kent Tyler of Holton and Thomas (Shirley) Tyler of North Vernon; sister, Betty Jones of Ohio; grandchildren, Leslie, Aaron and Jonah Phelps all of Plant City, Florida, Robin (Chuck) Williams of Greensburg, Zackary Hankins of Seymour, Brittany and Cassi Jones, Warren Tyler Lykins all of North Vernon, Christopher and Kendra Porter both of Ripley County and Sarah Robbins of Versailles; great grandchildren, Jeremiah Duttlinger of Seymour, Autumn and Zoey Reed both of Richmond, Emilee Franks of North Vernon, Jasper and Oliver Williams both of Greensburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Robert, Ceburn, Jessie, Timothy and Preston Tyler, sisters, Mary Ward, Martha Bush and Cloye Waller and a grandson, Joshua Reed.

A funeral service for Mr. Tyler will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 16 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with Junior Tyler officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until time of service. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the donor’s choice. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, North Vernon, is in charge of arrangements.


Connie Clowers Dunagan


Connie Clowers Dunagan, 66, of Osgood, passed away at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, Kentucky. She was born at Seymour on February 21, 1951, the daughter of Cornell and Virginia Akers Clowers. She was married to Larry Dunagan on May 1, 1970 and he survives. Other survivors include one son Larry (Tabitha) Dunagan, Jr. of Osgood; one daughter Jennifer Dunagan Kieffer of Versailles; two grandchildren Timothy Moore of Greensburg and Kristen Kieffer of Osgood; one great granddaughter Leah Moore of Madison; three brothers Bruce (Debbie) Clowers of Versailles, Dean (Elizabeth) Clowers, and Joe Clowers both of Haines City, Florida, and also her best friend Judy Jones of Osgood. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Dunagan was a homemaker and a former employee of US Shoe in Osgood and Delta Faucet in Greensburg. Connie attended the Bethany Baptist Church in Osgood.

Funeral services will be on Friday, June 16 at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Mike Cammack of the Bethany Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Indiana Veterans Cemetery in Madison. Visitation will be on Friday from 9 a.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Bethany Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
