Ronald G. Palmer

Ronald G. Palmer, 75, of Holton, passed away at 11:50 a.m., Monday, May 29, 2017 at the Waters of Batesville. He was born at Brookville on March 7, 1942, the son of Claude and Edith Rayner Palmer.

Survivors include his son, Brent Palmer of Batesville; two brothers, Claude Palmer, Jr. of Osgood and Omer (Virginia) Palmer of Versailles, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother William Palmer, and his sisters Waunetta Zaenglein, Phyllis Mulford, and Bonnie Palmer.

Mr. Palmer was a 1962 graduate of Holton High School and was retired from Cummins Engine in Columbus. He served in the Army from 1965 to 1968 with the 55th Engineering Company as a crane shovel operator and qualified as a rifle marksman. Ron was also a former member of the Holton Town Board.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 2 at 12 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Steve Palmer officiating. Burial will be in the Dabney Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Versailles American Legion. Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Dabney Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.


Helen Loretta (Westmeyer) Niebrugge


Helen Loretta (Westmeyer) Niebrugge, 99, passed away Thursday May 25, 2017 at Dearborn County Hospital at Lawrenceburg. Helen was born Monday, October 29, 1917.

Surviving her are children, Janet Gilbert, Barbara (David) Lade, Fred (Kathy) Niebrugge; daughter-in-law Kathy Niebrugge; sister, Edna Pieper; and extended family Jean and David Benning. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, lots of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Niebrugge, her parents, son Dale Niebrugge, sister Ethel Rosengarn, brother Everett Westmeyer and son-in-law Walter Gilbert.

Helen was a life-long resident of Dillsboro. She worked as a cook at the Dillsboro High School until her retirement at the age of 75. She loved cooking for her family, going to her church, Trinity Lutheran in Dillsboro, and sitting on her front porch talking with friends and family. She will sadly missed by everyone who knew her.

Funeral services for Helen were held Tuesday May 30 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillsboro with Pastor Richard Kolaskey officiating. Burial followed in Oakdale Cemetery at Dillsboro. Bonnie J. Benham


Bonnie J. Benham, 76, of Osgood, passed away at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at her home. She was born at Springfield in Washington County, Kentucky on February 10, 1941, the daughter of Nelson and Catherine Bunch Holman. She was married to Dale Benham on February 3, 1957 and he preceded her in death on January 18, 2011.

Survivors include one daughter Beverly Tebbe of Batesville; four sons Raymond (Peggy) Benham, Kenneth (Tonya) Benham, Greg (Marisa) Benham, and Tim Benham all of Osgood; 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; one sister Linda Colvin of Jeffersonville. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother Leon Holman.

Bonnie was a homemaker and a member of the Hope Baptist Church at Dillsboro. Bonnie’s uncle Floyd Bunch was a bluegrass musician and through him Bonnie had become a personal acquaintance of country music and bluegrass stars Keith Whitley, Ricky Skaggs, Ralph Stanley, and Doyle Lawson.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, June 3 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Bro. Michael Miller of the Cedar Creek Community Church officiating. Burial will be in the Benham Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. Memorials may be given to Rescue 69 or the Benham Cemetery in care of the funeral home.


Glenn P. Connely


Glenn P. Connely, 74, of Pierceville, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017. Funeral services were held Wed., May 31 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan with burial in New Craven Cemetery at Milan.
