Ilene King
Ilene King, 87, of Versailles, formerly of Osgood, passed away at 7:45 p.m., Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born near New Marion on July 23, 1929, the daughter of A. J. and Huldah Edens Meadows. She was married to Verland King on October 21, 1948 and he preceded her in death on May 18, 2005.
Survivors include nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brothers John and Virgil Meadows, and her sisters Lucille Newhart, Nadah Holman, Lorene Ehlers, Rosamond Waters, Doris Murray, and Donetta Heacock.
Mrs. King was a 1947 graduate of Delaware-Jackson High School in Napoleon and was also a graduate of the Indiana School of Cosmetology in Indianapolis. She had owned and operated her beauty shop in Osgood for 15 years and was a 17-year employee of the Ripley County Bank in Osgood. She had also been employed with the Ripley County Farm Bureau in Osgood as well as the Card and Gift Gallery in Osgood. Ilene was a member of the New Testament Christian Church in Osgood.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 27 at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Bro. Irvin Hart officiating. Burial was in the Greendale Cemetery in Osgood. Memorials may be given to the Jennings County Hospice or the New Testament Christian Church in care of the funeral home.
