Carol “Buzz” Lohrum
Carol “Buzz” Lohrum, 82, of Elrod, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 at his residence. He was born at Elrod, on April 27, 1934, the son Albert Sr. and Eunice Rebekkah Elrod Lohrum. He married Judy Hutchinson on September 6, 1957 in St. George, Utah and she preceded him in death on November 11, 2015.
Survivors include his three sons Rick, Roger, and Glen (Terri); one daughter Brenda Lohrum, all of Milan; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother Vic Lohrum of Milan; two sisters Linda Bruce of Versailles and Alice (Don) Mathias of Dillsboro. Mr. and Mrs. Lohrum also helped raise Mitch and Mike Beagley and his sister in law Paula Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife as well as three brothers.
Buzz retired from Pernod Ricard in Lawrenceburg, he and his wife owned and operated Elrod Superette, Lohrum’s Amoco; he also worked at Aurora Casket Company, Batesville Casket Company but Mr. Lohrum loved to serve the Lord in many capacities; youth minister, deacon, at Washington Baptist Church and a minister for North Hogan Hill Baptist Church. Buzz graduated from Versailles High School in 1952 and immediately following he joined the Navy, where he served till 1956.
Buzz’s wishes were to be cremated and his memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 6 at 11 a.m. at the Washington Cemetery in Elrod with Brother Doug Norman officiating. Memorials may be given to the Washington Cemetery or donor’s choice in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. JOHN 3:16.
Edward L. Watson
Edward L. Watson, 93, of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Rush Memorial Hospital in Rushville. Edward was born Tuesday, November 13, 1923 in Humphrey, (Casey County) Kentucky, the son of Alonzo and Pearl (Byrd) Watson. He married Freda Inez (Salyers) Watson on October 21, 1946 and she preceded him in death February 23, 2003.
Edward served his country in the US Army during WWII having served in the European Theatre of Operations. He retired as a steel fabricator for Enerfab Corp. in Cincinnati. He was a member of the Boilermakers Union and a life member of the VFW. He loved traveling anywhere, near or far, puttering around his property, telling stories, and his family.
His survivors include sons, Chester Watson of Mt. Healthy, Garry (Deborah) Watson of Rushville; daughters, Mary (Robert) Wesley of Dillsboro and Darla Watson of Aurora; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; brothers, Ralph, Claud and George (Jo) Watson and sisters, Maude Wheeler, Letha (Julian) Hines, Betty (Lloyd) Hopper, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his wife and brothers Marion, Leo and Bobby Watson and sisters Pauline Salyers, Ruth Watson and Jewell Perkins.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 25, at Washington Baptist Church, 5496 E. US 50, Dillsboro, 47018 with Pastor Brian Dempsey and Brother Lloyd Hopper officiating. Elva I. Laws
Elva I. Laws, 100, of Moores Hill, passed away Friday, April 21, 2017 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. Elva was born Thursday, January 4, 1917 in Sparta, the daughter of John S. and Stella Mae (Popham) Ickenroth. She married James R. Laws on September 28, 1946 and he preceded her in death October 28, 1990.
Mrs. Laws was a member of the Milan United Methodist Church, Milan Legion Auxiliary, Milan VFW Auxiliary, The Indiana Nurses Association and RN Club of Dearborn County. Elva Graduated from Moores Hill High School in 1934 and later graduated Bethesda School of Nursing in Cincinnati 1939. She worked at the Whitlatch Clinic and Hospital for 8 years under Dr. Warn from 1962-1968. She retired from the Ripley County Health Nurse in 1975. During all of those years she still helped her husband at the funeral home. Elva enjoyed knitting, cooking and spending time with her family.
Her survivors include sons Robert James (Gail) Laws of Moores Hill; Jon Noble Laws of Bloomington; four grandchildren Lisa Marie Kohli, Carly (Ryan) Langferman Kerry Laws and Robert James-Noble Jenny) Laws; six great grandchildren Trenton, Grant, Beckett Langferman and Kameron Laws Adalynn Laws, and James Noble-Knight Laws. She was preceded in death by her husband James Robert Laws, daughter Nikki Marie Laws in 1996, and brother Dale Ickenroth.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 25 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan with Pastor Tom Holt and Pastor Pam Wooden officiating. Burial will follow at Craven Cemetery south of Milan. Visitation will be Tuesday 9-10:30 a.m. also at the funeral home. Denise Ann Shepherd Boldery, age 50, of Hanover, died on Saturday, April 22, 2017. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 27 at 11 a.m. at the New Life Fellowship Church, Madison. Amelia Jane Herbert
A little angel received her wings on Sunday, April 23, 2017, Amelia Jane Herbert, 7 weeks old of Osgood, passed away. She was the precious daughter of Justin Herbert and Ally Curry. In her short life she was loved like no other and returned so much. Her passing will leave a void in the hearts of her family that will last a lifetime.
She is survived by her parents both of Osgood, grandparents Charlie and Cheryle Meister of Osgood, Larry Curry of Holton, Kim Povinelli of Hope, and Daniel Herbert of Andersonville also surviving are great grandparents Richard and Jane Herbert of Greensburg, Glenda Meister of Osgood, Janet Bowyer of Westport, Nancy Curry of Versailles, and Carol Shafer of Osgood. She was preceded in death by great grandparents Larry Curry, Howard Shafer, Edward Bowyer and Paul Meister.
Visitation will be on Wednesday April 26 from 1-3 p.m. at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood, with funeral starting at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be at St. Peters United Church of Christ (Finks) Cemetery of Osgood. Memorials may be made out to the family in care of the funeral home.
Ruth Josephine Cardinal Frazier
Mrs. Ruth Josephine Cardinal Frazier, age 96, of Brandenburg, KY, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017, at her residence. Mrs. Frazier was a member of the Rebekahs. She was very involved in her church, serving as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She loved babies, but most importantly loved and cared for all of her family dearly.
Mrs. Frazier was preceded in death by her husband, Carl W. Frazier; three children, Patricia Koester, Connie Ryan and Sheri Swenson; two grandchildren, Carl Robert Frazier, Jr. and Pamela Koester; a brother, Oliver Cardinal; and two sisters, Gladys Rhoem and Betty Ertel. She is survived by two children, Carol Lee Frazier (Bob) Bruns, Louisville, KY and Carl R. (Peggy) Frazier, Brandenburg, KY; a brother, William Cardinal, Cincinnati, OH; a sister, Joy Hornberger, Milan; 20 grandchildren; many great and great great grandchildren; and her special friend and caregiver, Robin Hardin, Brandenburg, KY.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 24 at the chapel of the Hager Funeral Home. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26 at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY. Online condolences may be left at www.hagerfuneralhome.com.
