“Elated” would be one word to describe South Ripley Varsity Baseball Coach Steve Franklin following his team’s taking the North Decatur Chargers for a pair of W’s in their Saturday, April 14, double header. Winning is always a motivational booster, but when four of your players deliver for five homers in one day…then life is good on the baseball diamond. Cory Walker drilled two over the ND fence, while teammates Chad Turner, Jackson Cornett and Bryer Franklin each added one apiece.

The Saturday double header found Walker nailing one in each of the two games played against the Chargers with Turner getting his in that game, as well leading to an SR victory. Along with Walker’s addition of another out of the park home run in game two, Cornett and Franklin struck for gold and rang the bell as well to a second game victory at 24-21 after approximately a 3 1/2 hour battle royale!
