Mary Sue McBrayer Demaree

Mary Sue McBrayer Demaree, age 87, of Madison, entered this life on February 28, 1930 in Rockholds, Kentucky. She was the loving daughter of the late Charles and Susie Bennett McBrayer and was raised among two brothers and four sisters. Mary Sue was united in marriage on September 8, 1950 to Lester Leroy Demaree and this union was blessed with 49 years of marriage until Lester’s passing in 2000. This home was blessed with three daughters: Susan, Charlotte and Cynthia.

For the past 60 plus years, Mary Sue had resided in the Madison area. She was most importantly a housewife, but had enjoyed housekeeping for others and babysitting many children over the years. Mary Sue was passionate about the outdoors. While outdoors, she spent her time gardening. She also enjoyed attending senior dances, quilting and canning. She had a gift for canning peaches, green beans, crab apples and tomatoes.

Mary Sue was united in marriage to Dale B. Taylor and they shared several years of marriage together until his death on February 4, 2014. She was a former member of the King’s Daughters’ Hospital In As Much Circle, Rebekah Club and Madison Chapter of the Eastern Star. Mary Sue was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and had been a previous member of the North Madison Baptist Church. Mary Sue died on Friday, March 10, 2017, at 1:07 p.m. at the Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover.

Mary Sue will be missed by her loving daughters, Susan Demaree Buchanan, Charlotte K. Demaree, Conrad and Cynthia Jean Demaree, all of Madison; her grandchildren, Anthony A. “Tony” Buchanan of Madison, Senior Master Sergeant Jeremy S. Conrad and his wife, Maria of Panama City, Florida, Kevin T. Scharlau and his wife, Brooke of Madison; her great grandchildren, Skyler T. Conrad, Isabella C. Conrad, Alexis G. Scharlau, Teralyn Scharlau and Lauryn K. Scharlau; her sisters-in-law, Beryl Hartman of Florida and Mildred Jackson of Madison. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Charles and Susie Bennett McBrayer; her husband of 49 years, Lester Leroy Demaree, who died on July 21, 2000; her sons-in-law, Roger Allen Buchanan, who died on February 19, 2017 and Tom Conrad, who died on July 12, 2008; her granddaughter, Crystal Dawn Farrar, who died on July 13, 1978; her sisters, Delania Warren, Christine Griffin, Myrtle Cupp and Emily McKeehan; her brothers, Charles McBrayer and James McBrayer; her second husband, Dale B. Taylor who died on February 4, 2014.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 16 at 11 a.m., by Pastor Mike Hamby at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison. Interment will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens near Madison. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Dementia Society of America. Cards are available at the funeral home. Elvin Eugene “Nip” Miller

Elvin Eugene “Nip” Miller, 98, of Moores Hill, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 18 at Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home, Moores Hill. Clarence B. Harmeyer, 97, of St. Mary’s of the Rock, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the age of 97.
