Gary L. Fraser

Gary L Fraser, 79, died Feb 15, 2017, from injuries sustained in an auto accident earlier that morning. Gary was born Dayton, Ohio on March 20, 1937.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Myrtle Fraser, and his younger brother, Dennis Fraser, of Dayton Ohio

He is survived by his wife, Cathy May of Osgood, and his stepchildren, Tony Alstott, Christine Attwood and Gena Beard. Also stepgrandchildren, Ahnya Evinger (Joe), Rachel Alstott, Josiah Alstott (Jesse), Caleb Alstott, Mary Alstott, Sara Key and Dallas Struckman and great granddaughter Adyson. Also, surviving him are the mother of his children, Jannalee Fraser and their children, Matthew Fraser (Rose) and Holly Fraser. Gary and Jannalee’s grandchildren are Jeremiah Fraser, Yara and Glory Sief, Emma and Ella Fraser and Adrianne and A. J. Fraser.

He attended four years at Antioch College in Yellow Springs Ohio, and one year at the University of Dayton. He served six years in the Air Force Reserves as an Air Traffic Controller at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Gary was an “advertising man.” He spent his life in sales, mostly for various newspapers. As a young man, Gary was vice president of the Ohio State Jaycees. Gary was an avid reader and collector, and a published poet. He had a great sense of humor and was interested in everyone he met. He loved music and played harmonica and keyboard. Gary was a member of the First Baptist Church of Osgood. He was a past member of the Kawanis and Lions Clubs. Gary believed in giving back and was active in his church and community wherever he lived. He loved putting a smile on other people’s faces and gave away hundreds of stuffed animals wherever he went.

A celebration of life service will be held at the Osgood First Baptist Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 25. The family requests memorials be given to the Osgood First Baptist Church. Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood, is entrusted with arrangements.

Gertrude “Tootie” Bushhorn

Gertrude “Tootie” Bushhorn, 83, of Milan, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Ridge Wood Health Campus in Lawrenceburg. Tootie was born on Tuesday, April 25, 1933, to Arthur and Evelyn (Burns) Parker. She married Clyde Bushhorn on February 14, 1953, and he preceded her in death December 24, 1990.

She was a member of the Hope Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking and working with her flowers.

Tootie is survived by her two daughters: Vickie (Howard) McKee of Aurora and Patty Ruble of Milan; son: Rick (Shawna) Bushhorn of Osgood; five grandchildren: Chris (Lisa) Bushhorn, Josh (Bethany) Bushhorn, Megan (Andrew) Kreutzjans, Jessica Ruble, Patrick (Carissa) Ruble; four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday February 22, at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan with Pastor Tom Holt officiating. Burial will follow in New Craven Cemetery south of Milan. Visitation will also be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to cancer fund or Alzheimer’s. Glenna Marie Turner

Glenna Marie Turner, 95, of Milan, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 21 at 12 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Dillsboro. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Dillsboro. Visitation will also be Tuesday from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the church. Martha Sandifar Shadday

Martha Sandifar Shadday, 88, of Rexville, passed away at 10:40 a.m., Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Thornton Terrace in Hanover. She was born in the West Fork community in Jefferson County on September 1, 1928, the daughter of Chester and Annie Stewart Sandifar. She was married to Kenneth Shadday on November 30, 1946 and he preceded her in death on December 17, 1994.

Survivors include two sons, Richard (Barbara) Shadday of Rexvile and Dennis (Sheila) Shadday of Morris; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren; one brother, Bob (Shirley) Sandifar of Washington, Illinois; one sister, Helen Gregory of Shelbyville. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers Gaylord, Elmer, Chester, Jr., and George Sandifar, and her sisters Mary Gray and Elma Kendall.

Mrs. Shadday was a former employee of Reliance Electric in Madison and retired from the Muscatatuck State Developmental Center where she worked as a cook. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing and tending to her flowers and garden. Martha was a member of the New Marion Baptist Church, the Versailles-Osgood Order of the Eastern Star, and the Versailles American Legion Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 22 at 12 p.m. at the New Marion Baptist Church with Rev. Harold Carter and Rev. Brad Creech officiating. Burial will be in the West Fork Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday also at the church. Memorials may be given to the New Marion Baptist Church or the West Fork Cemetery in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.

Lucille Warfield

Lucille Warfield, 100, of Correct, passed away at 7:40 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born at Correct on October 3, 1916, the daughter of Holman and Bertha Day Gookins. She was married to Carl Warfield on July 30, 1938 and he preceded her in death on October 2, 2003.

Survivors include one son, Tom (Lois) Warfield of Correct; one daughter, Rebecca (Charles) Rogers of Carmel; six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother Ralph Gookins.

Mrs. Warfield grew up at Correct on the family farm with her brother and parents. Her grandfather T. G. Day of Correct was a Civil War veteran having fought at Gettysburg and was held as a prisoner of war at Andersonville, Georgia. Lucille was a 1934 graduate of Versailles High School and completed the two-year teachers course at Hanover College in 1936 before teaching at the Benham School in 1937. Since women were not allowed to be married and teach school, her career ended upon marrying Carl in 1938. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Warfield Fertilizer. Lucille was a 60-year member of the Versailles Baptist Church and was also a member of the Correct Homemakers club.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 23 at 3 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Mike Cantrell officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will be Thursday from 1 p.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Cliff Hill Cemetery or the Versailles Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.

Kathryn Jane Ward

Kathryn Jane Ward, 85, of Dillsboro, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 24 at the Dillsboro United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Sinai Cemetery west of Aurora. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro. Memorials may be made to her church or the cancer fund. Harold Stout
