Other than a rain shower delaying the onset of the Milan Homecoming parade’s beginning for approximately a half hour on Friday evening, September 16, the night was definitely a great night for Milan, as they defeated the North Decatur Chargers 55-12. As usual, the day’s afternoon was dedicated to high school activities on the football field where students and staff began the fun filled competitions between the freshman through senior classes.

Pictured at left, the tribe’s offensive line deter the Charger would be defenders as teammate Jed Minnich (14) hustles into the end zone for the touchdown! For more photos, including homecoming royalty, see page 5 of the Osgood Journal.
With accompaniment of the Milan High School band, under the direction of Stephanie Beedle, the 2016-17 football game homecoming halftime ceremony included the senior class queen and king court of Alex Dixon and Blane Beck, Sierra Kern and Nate Davis, and Jessica Berger and Adam Brinkman, along with Morgan Meyer and Michael Offill. Crowned royalty were football quarterback Blane Beck as king, son of Dave and Rhonda Brandes Beck, and cheerleader Sierra Kern as queen, daughter of Rusty and Gina Kern.
Behind Milan High School principal and returning Head Football Coach Ryan Langferman, a damp field seemingly resulted in a stronger determination in the Indians’ camp to make their homecoming a memorable event, while delivering a resounding message to visiting competitor: “We are here to protect home turf and we are indeed ready for the task at hand!”
