High school volleyball teams are ready for the 2016 season

The time has come to begin the stories of local high school teams and see how things will play out with new freshmen joining the scene and the absence of graduated seniors. Along with player changes comes the change of coaches also. Among those changes will be the absence of long-time (nearly 20 years) Milan Lady Indians Volleyball Team Head Coach Terry Wullenweber and JV Coach JoAnne Siebert

The 2016 Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagles Varsity Volleyball Team, led by Head Coach Tammy Shaw, finds their senior foursome pictured kneeling front from left to include *Olivia Voss (2), Brittany Pickett (1), Teha Merkel (6), and *Rosie Newhart (11). Milan High School and Hanover College graduate Jennifer Wullenweber is currently leading the Lady Indians program. The Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagles find Coach Tammy Shaw at the lead and Brittany Sieverding the JV coach, while the South Ripley Lady Raiders program returns with Head Coach Robyn Greiwe leading the charge and Robin Bible Welch as the JV coach.
Rival match!
JCD vs. SR on Friday, Aug. 19
The first rival match of the new volleyball season between Jac-Cen-Del and South Ripley finds the Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagles as host to the South Ripley Lady Raiders this Friday night, August 19, with JV action underway at 6 p.m. at Jac-Cen-Del High School.
JCD Varsity Volleyball Team loses to Edinburgh in five-game match
Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagles battled to a first game victory at 25-20 against the Lady Lancers at JCDHS on Monday night, August 15. Second game action found the Lancers knotting the match at a game each with their 25-17 win. Game three again found the Lady Eagles collecting a narrow 2 point, 2 game to 1 edge by a final count of 25-23. However, the all important game four resulted in a Lady Lancer win to knot the match at two games each with a final tally of Lady Lancers 25-20 Lady Eagles. Game 5 played to 15 to determine the match victor resulted in a 15-13 come from behind Edinburgh triumph.
