SPORTS EDITOR
The full venue of IHSAA regulated sports offered by high schools gets into full speed this week. Though the area girls golf teams got a bit of a head start on other local sports, soccer and football were able to see some slated scrimmage competition. Be sure to check with your favorite schools athletic departments for all-sports passes, schedules and get behind your student athletes!
Football
The Milan Indians Football Team hosted the neighboring South Dearborn Knights for a scrimmage at Milan High School on Friday evening, August 12, in preparation for their real season opening night's battle against Rushville at Rushville Consolidated High School this coming Friday night, with a traditional 7 p.m. kickoff slated.

Ladies Golf
In girls’ golf action, the South Ripley Raiders team consists of lone senior, MacKenzie Black and Coach (step father) Greg Huntington. The duo finds no reason to hang their heads, as MacKenzie is enthusiastically competitive though currently battling through some pain issues currently. In their recent competition at Hoosier Links Golf Course, Milan on Thursday evening, August 11, Black earned the distinction of “Meet Medalist” with her round at 41.
The match as slated was between South Ripley, Southwestern Hanover, Jac-Cen-Del, and hosting Milan. However the Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagles behind Coach Brad Goldsberry was the only unit to produce the required four members for a team score. The four members of the JCD Lady Eagles team and their individual scores included senior Makayla Weber 46, senior Taylor Carroll 58, senior Ziwei Wang 54, and freshman Gracie Simon 77. The Milan Lady Indians led by Coach Deb Shumate included two lady golfers in Heather Hacker 62 and Lindsay Tuttle 71. Southwestern Hanover fielded no individuals for the 2016 Lady Rebel golf season.
