Rain deterred some fair venue plans, but that only momentarily slowed the enthusiasm before getting back into the swing of things once it passed.
Heat was apparently a deterrent for many as well, with the loss of a few chickens when fans went down due to the storm, but 4-H’ers and staff provided for their animals as best as they could and kept on task to keep the week positive. Competition events on Tuesday evening in the fair horse arena, found torrential rains turning not only the arena, but the entire fairgrounds basically into a mud pit and water park.

Beauty and pride are apparent as Ripley Wrangler 4-H’er and senior at East Central Miss Kendall Don Viel presents the colors to open the 2016 “Fox Hollow Rodeo” at the Ripley County Fair venue, aboard “Three Easy Jet.”
Also slated at the same time for Tuesday evening was the “Battle of the Bluegrass” Tractor Pulling Series Tractor Pulls, also suffering a rain out. However, Wednesday morning followed with bright sunshine along with drying techniques in full swing to prepare for the remaining fair activities, the horse arena was graded off down to solid ground for contesting and the front of the grandstand was prepared for the return and set up for the annual held “Fox Hollow Rodeo.”
Thanks to all who went the extra mile to continue successfully with another superb 2016 Ripley County Fair!
The requested contesting competition results were not available at press time.
