Max Richard Mingee
Max R. Mingee passed away on June 25, 2016, at the I.U. Health Hospice House. He was born in Bloomington on June 24, 1940 to Woodrow and Maxine Mingee. Max worked in many areas of automobile sales and service. He was the owner of Mingee Marathon at 3rd and Jordan, (later at 3rd and College Mall Rd.) and of Max Mingee Chrysler/Plymouth. He worked as Body Shop Manager for Tom O’Daniel Ford. He retired from Zore’s Auto Parts in Speedway, IN. Max was a life member of Elks Lodge #446, Fraternal Order of Eagles #1085, and American Legion Post #18.
Max was active in the community having served on the executive board of the Optimist Club, was a member of the Bloomington Chamber of Commerce, and volunteered for the American Cancer Society. He was instrumental in procuring the first bus for the Boys and Girls Club when the program was begun. Max was renowned for his knowledge and interest in the history of Bloomington and Monroe County. He was a loyal friend to many people and was always available to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a great story teller and could always come up with a joke to make people laugh. From a young age he was independent, building his own bicycle from used parts, gardening at Hilltop, and having a paper route near downtown at age seven. He belonged to AOPA and enjoyed piloting small aircraft with his good friends Newt Chitwood and Peter Hyatt
Max is survived by his wife of 44 years, Shirley, with whom he enjoyed many trips with Ambassadair Travel Club; his son, Kevin Burkett; brother, Bill (Joyce) Mingee; sisters, Patricia (Dan) Larimer and Beth (Mark) Moore; aunt, Mary Stapleton; three nieces, Cheryl Mingee, Rhonda (John) Houghtelin, and Jessica (Dustin) Cebula; nephew Kevin Mingee; two great-nieces, Carri (Jonny) Merkle, and Megan Sipes; his mother-in-law, Dorothy West; and brother-in-law, Larry West. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Michael; sister, Rita; and his first wife, Janet (Brown) Mingee
As to his wishes there will be no visitation and a private family inurnment will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Bloomington. Memorial contributions in Max’s memory may be made to the I.U. Debora “Debbie” Candice Mann
Debora “Debbie” Candice Mann, age 60, of Versailles, entered this life on November 29, 1955 in Batesville. She was the loving daughter to the late Emmett and Sammye Roberts Mann.
Debbie resided all her life in Ripley County and attended South Ripley High School in Versailles. She was a 1995 graduate of Ivy Tech College with an Associates degree in accounting. Debbie was united in marriage to Robin Combs in 1971 and was blessed with two daughters, Paige and Mandy. She worked for Baker Automotive and Tom Tepe Auto Center in Milan, Indiana as a car detailer for over 20 years. Debbie was united in marriage to Jack Mote in 2008. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, tie-dying, hummingbirds and spending time with her grandchildren. Debbie died on Saturday, June 18, 2016, at 12:45 p.m. at her home near Versailles.
She will be missed by her loving daughters, Paige Lovins and her husband Justin of Appomattox, Virginia, Amanda Betz and her fiancé Rodney Ruggles of Versailles; her companion of many years, Larry Hammons of Madison; her former son-in-law, Jeremy Betz of Milan; her adoring grandchildren, Tristan, Gracie, Audrey and Cy Lovins, Kylie, Joey and Logan Betz ,Elliott Ruggles; her brothers, Malcolm Mann and his wife Bethany of Toledo, Ohio, Philip Mann of Versailles; her sister, Margo Mann Hirt of Knoxville, Tennessee; her sister-in-law, Lisa Mann Toncray of Springfield, Tennessee; her nieces and nephews, Jennifer Brown (Andrew), Susannah Mann, Joe Mann (Amy), Kris Mann, Duke Mann, Colt Mann, Andy Thornton, Sammye Gillespie(Leslie), Jimmy Hirt and Morgan Mahl; several aunts, uncles and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Sammye Roberts Mann, her brother, Charles Mann, her sister-in-law, Marie Mann, her brother-in-law, Jim Hirt and her grandson Gregory Betz.
Debbie’s wishes were to be cremated with no formal services to be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Debbie Mann Memorial Fund. Cards are available at the funeral home.

Paul H. Suttmann, age 81, of Batesville, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 30 at 10 a.m. at the St. Louis Church in Batesville.
