Dorothy Florence Jackson Lehur Hooton
Dorothy Florence Jackson Lehue Hooton, 95, of Nolensville, Tennessee, formerly of Madison, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at her residence in Nolensville, Tennessee. She was born April 1, 1921 in Bedford, Kentucky, the daughter of Thomas Tabner and Lily Smith Jackson.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph J. Lehue (Elaine) of Nolensville, Tennessee, John A. Lehue (Lura) of Columbus; her daughter, Connie Lynn Woods of Indianapolis; her daughter-in-law, Karen Lehue of Louisville, Kentucky; her grandchildren, Joseph Robert, Ann Marie, Edward, Erika, Michelle, Julie, Elizabeth and Staci; 13 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Tabner and Lily Smith Jackson, her brothers, Smith, Fennel, and Henry Jackson, her sisters, Elizabeth Coffin and Margaret Wingham, her first husband, Joseph Ernest Lehue died July 5, 1986, her second husband, Lynn Moore died in 1993, her third husband, Troy Hooton died in 2000, and her son, Carroll Lee Lehue died September 11, 2000.
Dorothy was raised in Trimble County, Kentucky and married Joseph Ernest Lehue on September 11, 1940 in Bedford. This happy union of 45 years was blessed with three sons and a daughter. She married Lynn Moore in 1989 and enjoyed only four years of marriage before his death in 1993. She lastly married Troy Hooton in 1995 in Versailles, Indiana and they enjoyed five years of marriage until his death in 2000. She lived in Madison most of her life with the exception of five years in the Versailles/Cross Plains area. She moved to Nolensville, Tennessee, in 2009 where she resided until her death. She worked for a while at the U.S. Shoe Corporation in Osgood but was mostly a farm wife, homemaker, and helpmate. She was a member of Calvary Wesleyan Church and enjoyed her church, shopping, quilting, and ceramics.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 1 at the Calvary Wesleyan Church, Madison with Rev. Monty L. Mahoney officiating. Burial was in the Moffett Cemetery in Milton, Kentucky. The family requests memorials in memory of Dorothy to the American Heart Association, contribution cards are available at the funeral home. Melvin E. McMurray
Melvin E. McMurray, 76, of Goshen, Ohio, passed away at his home Thursday, April 28, 2016. Melvin was born Thursday, January 18, 1940 in North Bend, Ohio, the son of Elmer and Lillian (Crouch) McMurray. He married Elizabeth (Baker) McMurray who preceded him in death. Melvin was a former employee of the Gear Piano Co. in Cleves. He was a member of the Aurora Eagles.
Melvin is survived by sons, Melvin McMurray Jr. of Rising Sun and Rocky (Jennifer) McMurray of Aurora; daughter, Roetta (David) Howard of Moores Hill; brother, Elmer (Naomi) McMurray of Goshen; sisters, Shirley Betler of Lake Wells, Florida, Mary Triplett of Sebring, Florida, Thelma Collins of Elkins W. Virginia, and Carolyn DeWitt of Versailles; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many friends.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 3, at 1 p.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, with Chaplain Bonnie Bohn of Vitas Hospice officiating. Burial will follow in New Craven Cemetery at Milan. Hazel I. Cunningham, 88, of Milan, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. Hazel was born Friday, April 27, 1928 in Warsaw, Kentucky, the daughter of Stanley and Laura (Courtney) Jackson. She married Harry Cunningham who preceded her in death in 2008. Hazel was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, flowers, watching the birds and family time.
Hazel is survived by son, Harry Allen Cunningham of Casselberry, Fla; daughters, Debbie (Arthur) Thomas of Cross Plains, Sheila (Jeff) Jackson of Lafayette, Barbara J. Bowling of Harrison, Ohio, and Treva Cunningham of Shelbyville; sister-in-law, Betty Cunningham; brother-in-law, Evan (Georgia) Cunningham; grandchildren, Kevin (Sarah) Thomas; Amy (Scott) Linkel; Jeffery Cunningham; Brett (Jill) Cunningham; great grandchildren Brady and Brionna Linkel, Katie Thomas, Jackson Cunningham, and two stepgrandchildren. Mary F. Cordell
Mary F. Cordell, 63, of Versailles, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Mercy West Hospital in Cincinnati. She was born in Cincinnati on March 28, 1953, the daughter of Raymond and Roxie Trimble Pierce. She was married to Roy Cordell and he preceded her in death on February 13, 2014. Survivors include one daughter, Marie (Albert) Sturgill of Versailles; one son, Forest Huddelston of Milan; nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; one sister, Wanda Wingate of Aurora; also her fiancé, Dr. Marvin Moore of Rising Sun. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Cordell was a 1971 graduate of Western Hills High School in Cincinnati. She was a former employee of Hillenbrand Industries in Batesville and was currently the owner and operator of Four Paws Boarding and Grooming in Versailles. Mary had a tremendous love of animals and provided excellent care and attention to all of her “furry friends.” Mary was a member of the Cross Plains Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 4 at 2 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Bro. Logan Fugate of the Cross Plains Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in the Marble Corner Cemetery at Versailles. Visitation will be Wednesday from 12 p.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Ripley County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
