JCD Lady Eagles / SR Lady Raiders softball rivalry is truly a family affair

There’s no place like home, home plate that is, for coaches Kate and Jake Todd. The South Ripley Lady Raiders, coached by Kate Todd who is expecting a baby soon, were prepared for the battle against the Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagles led by none other than Head Lady Eagle Softball Coach and husband, Jake. Joining the Todds is Umpire Kevin Henney, center, ready to get the rivalry battle underway.
Wednesday evening at South Ripley ball fields, April 13, represented the first round of spring softball and baseball head-to-head competition for the 2016 season.
The visiting Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagles varsity coached by Jake Todd claimed victory over wife Kate’s South Ripley Lady Raiders by a final tally of JCD 3-1 SR. “Next time.” stated Coach Kate Todd, referring to her team earning a victory over husband Jake’s Lady Eagles!

Another competitive varsity baseball rivalry finds more on the line than just a mere game, as the visiting Jac-Cen-Del Eagles come to Versailles to battle the hosting South Ripley Raiders in early season action, with uncle and nephew coaches on opposite sides. The game went to the Raiders by a final count of SR 4-0 behind pitcher Avery Halcomb, against senior Eagle hurler Tyler Huff.
Ripley County Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2016 induction ceremony held at Milan High School
The yearlong process of the Ripley County Basketball Hall of Fame’s directors selecting and installing of the Class of 2016 came to fruition at Milan High School at the induction ceremony for the 15th class on Saturday evening April 9. The five new members inducted were as follows: Holton Warhorse Roger Castner – Class of 1967, Milan Indian Bruce Green – Class of 1975, Batesville Lady Bulldog Cindy Lamping – Class of 1991, Jac-Cen-Del Eagle Ricky Meyer – Class of 1985, and Jac-Cen-Del Eagle Randy Meyer – Class of 1985.
