Henry E. Carson

Clarence Eugene “Corky” Carson, 83, of New Point, succumbed to heart failure on Friday, December 16, 2016 at the Aspen Place Health Center in Greensburg. He was cared for by his wife, Helen, at home for four years, spending the last two years at Aspen Place.

Clarence was born December 14, 1933 in New Point. He was the son of William and Velma (Barkley) Carson. He graduated from New Point High School in 1951 and later hired at Bohn Aluminum on November 3, 1952 retiring after 45 years as a tool and die maker. He married his sweetheart, Helen Faye Haley, on November 28, 1953; they were blessed with 63 years of marriage.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Helen; three children, Mark (Patricia) Carson of Osgood, Debra (David) Yeggy of Cincinnati, OH, and Diane (Jesus) Celaya, Mesa, AZ; two sisters, Ethel June McFerson-West, Orlando, FL and Doris Jean Donovan-Stiles, Orlando, FL; one brother, Arthur (Wilma) Carson, Orlando, FL; ten grandchildren, Jodi Collins, Christina Summey, Elizabeth McCarty, Craig Carson, Rebecca Carson, Jordan Yeggy, Jared Yeggy, Danae Yeggy, Corey Celaya, and Anthony Celaya; sis great grandchildren, Emma McCarty, Tanner McCarty, Logan Summey, Ethan Summey, Olivia Collins, and Austin Collins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7:00 p.m. at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg and on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 at the New Point Christian Church. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the New Point Christian Church with Rev. Mark Vice officiating. Interment will be held in the Rossburg Cemetery. Micayla Daniele Acra

Micayla Daniele Acra, 17, of Milan, passed away in a car accident on US 56 on Tuesday, December 13, 2016. Micayla was born Monday, December 21, 1998 in Lawrenceburg, the daughter of Jon and Christal (Good) Acra.

Micayla was a senior at the Milan Jr. Sr. High School with perfect attendance and being on the honor roll. She was involved in FFA and high school choir. She was also a student at the Southeastern Career Center studying in the Building Trades and was a part-time employee for Rahe properties. She enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, four wheel riding and archery.

She is survived by her parents: mother, Christal Acra; father, Jon (Audra Kistler) both of Milan; maternal grandparents, Rick and Ida Bischoff of Milan; paternal grandparents, Tom and Marsha Acra of Milan; paternal great grandmother: Marilyn Acra of Milan and Thelma Knowlton of Milan; brother: Sean (Cheyenne Reese) Kleinhenz of Milan; stepbrother: Austin Kistler; sister Kaylee Acra of Milan; boyfriend Dylan Isaacs of Rising Sun; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.

Ronald Lee Schnebelt


Ronald Lee Schnebelt, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2016. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post #292 in Dillsboro. Memorials may be made to the family. A.C. Spurlock, of Sunman, passed away Monday, December 19, 2016 at home. Services are pending at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan.


Harry Thomas Palmer, Sr.


Harry Thomas Palmer, Sr., 71, of North Vernon, passed away at 3:00 a.m. on Monday, December 19, 2016 at his residence. Born July 1, 1945 in Versailles, Mr. Palmer was the son of Harry George and Naomi Thomas Palmer. He married Sally Armstrong on September 25, 1970 in Madison and she survives.

Mr. Palmer was a 1964 graduate of New Marion High School and served in the U. S. Army from 1965-1966. He was a machine operator for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus for 32 years retiring in December of 2000. Mr. Palmer was a member of the North Vernon Moose Lodge, North Vernon Masonic Lodge #59, Indiana Milk Bottle Collectors and a Coach of Little League baseball for eight years. His enjoyments included collecting antiques, especially Indiana Milk Bottles, going to auctions, fishing and hunting.

Surviving with his wife, Sally Palmer are sons, H. Tommy (Johna) Palmer Jr. and Brian L. (Taffany) Palmer both of North Vernon; brother, LeRoy (Sue) Palmer of North Vernon; sisters, Pauline Rogers and Vadah (Scott) Hawkins both of Madison; grandchildren, Jerod Palmer, Chasity McNicholas, Chase McNicholas, Lauren Lane, Makayla Palmer, Brianna Palmer, Bo Palmer and Luke Palmer all of North Vernon and great grandchildren, Gracie Spurlock and Leah Spurlock both of North Vernon. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Paul Palmer and sister, Violet Palmer.

A funeral service for Mr. Palmer will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 22 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with the Rev. Dale Boyd officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 21 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service on Thursday. Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday by members of North Vernon Masonic Lodge #59. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon with military graveside rites by members of Matt Hester Post#2021 V.F. W.

Martha A. Dilk


Martha A. Dilk, 84, of Versailles, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. She was born near Versailles on April 18, 1932, the daughter of Fred and Sophia Wichmann Boekankamp. She was married to Delbert Dilk on November 17, 1951 and he preceded her in death on January 25, 2005.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Wirtz and Sandra Howlett both of Versailles; three grandchildren, Chris (Bobbie) Howlett of Milan, Karen (Eric) Hubbard of Osgood, and Jeffery Wirtz of Versailles; two great grandchildren Conner Hubbard and Anna Hubbard; one brother, Paul Boekankamp of Indianapolis; and also Martha’s twin sister Mary (Harold) Koehler of Reynoldsburg, Ohio. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brother Harold Boekankamp, and her sisters Josephine Wiefering, Wilma Schwanholt, and Elizabeth Brenner.

Mrs. Dilk was a 1951 graduate of Versailles High School. She was a former employee of Delta Faucet in Greensburg, the Delaney Wood Heel Factory in Versailles, Conn Organ in Madison, and the Jefferson Proving Ground. Martha’s hobbies included reading and playing cards. Her family spoke that her favorite thing though was watching IU basketball and everything stopped when the Hoosiers were on. Martha was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Olean.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 22 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Curtis Black officiating. Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery at Olean. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to St. Peters Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
