The 2016 IHSAA Class 2A Boys Football Sectional 38 Championship Title was captured by Coach Ryan Langferman’s Milan Indians last Friday night, Nov. 4, at Triton Central High School, with the tribe's triumphant 52-28 score. The Indians opened with scoring early on, leading to a dominating 38-0 lead by the halftime break. Triton Central ate into the tribe's lead for a first score in the third period, followed by a second, for 14- 38, refusing to throw in the towel; however, rekindling the flame of success in the final period, the Indians would neutralize the Cats’ gains of the third, adding points for themselves.
Over the fourth, a little give and take resulted in TC adding another pair of touchdowns and PAT’s to their game tally, while Milan secured a pair of touchdowns and a 2 point conversion to end Sectional Championship game scoring Milan 52-28 Triton Central. Following their long trek back home the victorious Milan Indians were greeted for a fire truck led procession where schoolmates and the community joined in with the celebrating while awakening the town to sirens, horns and shouting!
Next item on the 2016 Sectional Champion Milan Indian Football team agenda is hosting Regional competition against the visiting Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter Raiders this coming Friday night Nov. 11, where a 7 p.m. kick off will once again promote the drive to thrive and survive for yet another round.
