June Ball
June Ball, 90, of Versailles, passed away Monday, August 31, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati. She was born at Carrollton, Kentucky on June 7, 1925, the daughter of Ernest and Katie Croxton Ogburn. She was married to John A. Ball on May 3, 1947 and he preceded her in death on September 10, 2001.
Survivors include one son, Greg Ball of Versailles; two grandchildren, Gina Partin of Versailles and Jason Lee Ball of Elrod; four great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Harley, Thomas, Clifford, Ernest Jr., and Leslie Ogburn, and her sisters Lula Ashby, Bertha Cull, Dorothy Harmon, Carrie Tingle, and Nancy Hammond.
Mrs. Ball was a 1944 graduate of Carroll County High School. She operated Village Flowers in Osgood for 30 years and was also a former employee of the JayC store in Osgood. June attended the Tyson United Methodist Church in Versailles.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 4 at 1 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Randy Thieman officiating. Burial will be in the Bedford Cemetery in Bedford, Kentucky. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the South Ripley High School bowling team in care of the funeral home
Virgil Edward White
Virgil Edward White, 82, of Versailles, passed away at 8:20 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2015 at his home. He was born at Price Hill in Ohio on September 18, 1932, the son of Virgil and Mary Duncan White. He was married to Gay Pickett on December 6, 1949, and she preceded him in death on March 27, 2013.
Survivors include two sons, Rocky (Susan) White of Patriot and Roger White of Osgood; three daughters, Joyce (Jim) Youngman of Osgood, Linda (Bill) Brewer of Holton, and Bonnie (Mike) Raney of Versailles; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Loretta (Dave) Morgan of North Vernon. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. White formerly worked at Cummins in Columbus as a general machinist, a job he held for 20 years. He also owned, trained, and drove harness horses and was a former employee of the Laughery Valley Co-op. Ed was a member of the Dabney Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 4 at 10 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Dr. Michael Bell of the Dabney Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Dabney Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
Byron Gail Nagel
Byron Gail Nagel, 64, of Madison, passed away Monday, August 31, 2015. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 5 at 2 p.m. at the Madison Assembly of God Church, 1636 Clifty Drive in Madison with burial in the Fairmount Cemetery, 313 W. Third Street Madison. Visitation will be at the church on Friday, Sept. 4 from 3-8 p.m. and Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of service
