Unlike many years, the Ripley County 4-H Fair held at the Fairgrounds in Osgood had clear skies and beautiful weather for its opening on Sunday morning, July 19. However, the previous week’s storms and heavy showers had left their mark on the horse facility, as well as the track in front of the grandstands. Scheduled at 8 a.m., prior to the grand opening that evening, were the horse and pony show as well as the annual Kevin Menchhofer antique tractor pull events that were slated for 10 a.m. onset. With the horse and pony show arena, Mitch Brown was able to work the arena to a near ideal consistency for the show to continue as scheduled. For a list of the Horse & Pony Show event, exhibitor and place, pick up a copy of the Osgood Journal at your local newsstand.
As for the antique tractor pulls, rain had cancelled scheduled pulls allowing it to become a two-day event, which actually began on Saturday at “Kev’s Field of Dreams” inside pulling facility location. More on the tractor pulls will follow in an upcoming issue.
