Eula Jean Johnson Kennedy, 84, of Versailles, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015, at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. Eula was born Sunday, March 8, 1931 in Milan, the daughter of Floyd and Stella (Simpson) Fletcher. Jean was fifth of 10 children. She was married to Earland “Buck” Johnson who preceded her in death in 1982.
Early on, Jean worked with her father, Floyd, at the Sunman canning factory and later at the Ripley County Courthouse with her sister, Ruby. At Hillenbrand’s of Batesville, she was hired on as the first ever female forklift operator. She was the owner and operator of her own long haul trucking company, were she held a CDL license. She loved gardening, crocheting, making period clothing, watching roller derby, going to yard sales, and spending time with her family.
Eula is survived by sons: Gary (Diana) Johnson of Milan and Rick (Margo) Johnson of Cross Plains; grandchildren: Micah Johnson of Laurel, MD and Jenna Johnson of Austin, TX, Derek Johnson of Versailles, and Kara (Jerry) Love of Aurora; step-grandchildren: Angela Dobbs of Batesville, Bill Dobbs of Osgood, Kennita (Tony) Mains of Greensburg, and James Dobbs formerly of Osgood, plus (10) step-great grandchildren; sister Shirley (Wayne) Turner of Milan, brother Ron Fletcher of Mayo, FL, brother-in-law Bine Firth of Versailles, and ex-daughter-in-law Helen (Jerry) Stow of Milan. Eula was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Wilbur, Harold, Esther, Ruby, Delmar, Gilbert, and Alvin.
Funeral service will be at 12 p.m., Thursday, June 4 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan with Pastor John Blair officiating. Burial will follow in Hogan Hill Cemetery at Moores Hill. George L. Wahl, Jr.
George L. Wahl, Jr., 75, of Versailles, passed away at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, May 31, 2015, at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. He was born in Boise, Idaho on September 30, 1939, the son of George Sr. and Mary Ruth Young Wahl.
Survivors include one son, George (Joyce) Wahl III of Holton; one daughter, Jenny (Matt) Hansen also of Holton; grandchildren, Lance, Sarah, and Becky Wahl, and Nikki and Amanda Hansen; great-grandchildren, Aiden Wahl, Braydon Ritchison, Christopher Jackson, and Damian Wahl; one brother, Jack (Gloria) Wahl of Hamilton, Ohio; three sisters, Donna (Gilbert) Owens of Shandon, Ohio, Kathy (James) Hamblin of Hamilton, Ohio, and Carol (Bill) Klock of Liberty. He was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter Samantha Hansen, his brother Larry Wahl, and his sisters Judy Shultz and Glenna Mae Wahl.
Mr. Wahl was a former employee of American Materials in Fairfield, Ohio, where he worked as a plant operator. In his spare time George enjoyed playing cards and fishing.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 3 at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Carter Corbray of the First Southern Baptist Church in Versailles officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Samantha Hansen Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.

Charles Frederick “Charlie” Ritchie, 83, of Hanover, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2015. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 3 at 1 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison with burial in the Dupont Cemetery in Dupont. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 2, from 4-8 p.m. and from Wednesday 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Mary Lou Fox
Mary Lou Fox, 80, of Osgood, went home to be with our Lord on May 31, 2015, at 10:40 a.m. at her daughter’s Cindy’s residence of Osgood. She was born July 2, 1934, at home in Loveland, Ohio, to the late Levi Ellsworth and Anna Marie Deerwester Bunnell She graduated from Loveland High School in 1952 and graduated from Vogue Modeling School in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1955. Mary Lou and Elmer Lee Fox were married April 20, 1957 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Napoleon, Indiana. He preceded her in death on August 5, 2011.
She was a former Girl Scout leader, former member of Alpha Pi Sorority and a former member of the Red Hat Belles. She was also a member of the Napoleon United Methodist Church. Through the years, she played the piano for various churches including Loveland United Methodist Church, Church of Christ, Napoleon United Methodist Church and Mud Pike Church of Osgood. Mary Lou was a stringer reporter for the Greensburg Daily News, Cincinnati Post, Cincinnati Enquirer, Time Star, Indianapolis Star, The Versailles Republican and Osgood Journal. She reported the Ripley County News for WTRE in Greensburg for 12 years. She was a charter member of the Keene Henneke VFW Auxiliary and presently a charter member of the VFW Auxiliary of Greensburg. She was a former member of the Business & Professional Women’s Organization where she was president for eight years. She was also a 28-year member of the Ripley County American Heart Association of which 17 years she served as chairman. She was the first employee hired by Heritage House of Greensburg by Bob and Mary Jane Reed on June 2, 1982. There she worked as a receptionist, secretary and was also known as the voice of the Heritage House and did each of their commercials on WTRE. She was a very community minded person but above all, her family came first. she always placed her family and friends above herself! She will be so deeply missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include daughters: Cindy Fox Imel, Jackie (Greg) Schwering and Lori (Larry) Hammond, all of Osgood; brother: Jack Bunnell of West Chester, Ohio; sister: Joyce (Warren) Miller of Loveland, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Vicki who died in infancy.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 3, at Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 4, at the funeral home at 10 a.m., doors open at 9 a.m. Burial will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Napoleon.
