Phyllis McEvoy, 54, of Holton, passed away at 2:35 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Jennings St. Vincent Hospital in North Vernon. She was born in Madison on January 26, 1961, the daughter of Charles and Norma Pratt Bustle. She was married to David McEvoy on July 23, 1992 and he survives.
Other survivors include her mother, Norma Hopper of Versailles; two daughters, Lindsey (James) Chastain of Medora and Jamie (Wes) Combest of North Vernon; five grandchildren; two brothers, Charles (Debbie) Bustle of Holton and John (Jeanie) Bustle of Maysville, Michigan; two sisters, Sharon Whitham and Darla Downey both of Holton. She was preceded in death by her father, sister Vickie Lynn Bustle, her nephew Josh Whitham, her brother-in-law Marvin Downey, and her father and mother-in-law Donald and Alice McEvoy.
Mrs. McEvoy was a homemaker and had been employed with Metaldyne in North Vernon and also with the North Vernon JayC Store. Phyllis loved taking care of her husband and family and enjoyed working in her yard and flowers as well as looking after her dogs. She was a member of the Brushy Fork Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 16 at 12 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Bro. Earl Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery at Versailles. Visitation will also be Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Cliff Hill Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
John Dale Hankins
John Dale Hankins, 86, of Dillsboro, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015 at his home. Dale was born Saturday, November 17, 1928 in Cross Plains, the son of James and Alma (Selig) Hankins. Dale married Clara (Frakes) Hankins March 19, 1949 and she survives.
Dale worked at Demaree Tractor sales, Blue Flame Gas, Ohio Rod, and retired as a custodian after 22 years of service for South Ripley Schools. He enjoyed restoring Farmall, International, and Ford tractors. He enjoyed farming, gardening and spending time with his family.
Dale is survived by wife: Clara Hankins of Dillsboro. sons: Randy Hankins of Holton; Jim (Bev) Hankins of Elrod; daughters: Cindy (Brian) Stemann of Dillsboro; Karen (Rod) Elswick of Madison; sisters: Judy (Omer) Wilson of Holton; Dorothy Holton of Versailles; six grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Roy Hankins, sister: Myrle Wood; and grandchildren: Sharon and Dale Ehlers.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan with Pastor Ty Choate and Rev. Michael Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Green Cemetery at Elrod. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Roger H. Carson
Roger H. Carson, 74, of Sunman, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015 at his residence. Born August 7, 1940 in Oneida, Tennessee, he was the son of Harold and Willie Anne (Pennington) Carson. Roger was an A-linemen for Cincinnati Gas and Electric. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Tricia (Dave) Dixon, Tony (Cindy Belland) Carson, Jeff (Gwen) Carson; grandchildren, Krystal Carson, Kandi (Sara) Carson, Nicholas Dixon, Stephanie Carson, Mark Carson and Alex Dixon; great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Jackson, and many nieces and nephews.
