Bill Moore, Sr.
Bill Moore, Sr., 82, of Holton, passed away Monday, March 2, 2015, at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born in Hollow Number 5 in Breathitt County, Kentucky on August 18, 1932, the son of Frank and Laura Watkins Moore. He was married to Dorothy Jean Frieszell on July 1, 1955 and she preceded him in death on September 16, 1982.
Survivors include three sons, Bill (Janelle) Moore, Jr. of Versailles, Daniel “Boone” Moore of North Vernon, and Shawn (Krysta) Moore of Holton; 10 daughters, Laura (Ron) Prosser, Mary Sizemore, and Kimberly Hoover all of Versailles, Frances McRoberts and Crystal Gresham both of North Vernon, Sharon Roark of Cleveland, Tennessee, Jennifer (David) Pennycuff and Cherry (Wayne) Pyatt both of Butlerville, Sherry Lloyd of Connersville, and Chantal (Jamie) Aparicio Enriquez of Seymour; 42 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren; one brother, George (Sydney) Moore, Sr. of West Virginia; one sister, Phyllis Hardy of Seymour. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his son Frank Moore, daughter Becky White, his brothers Sewell, Robert, Johnny, Elmer, and Raymond Moore, and his sisters Sara Ann Sharp, Emma Cunningham, Frances Hollon, and Bertha Moore.
Mr. Moore was a retired farmer and had also worked for Triad Steel in North Vernon. He also had owned and operated Moore’s Service Station in Holton.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 6 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Kenneth Johnson of the North Vernon Church of God officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Garden near Madison. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Greg Prosser Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.
Jackie Wiley
Jackie Wiley, 68, of Holton, passed away Monday, March 2, 2015, at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born at Knightstown on January 8, 1947, the son of William Everett and Goldie Egan. Jackie was adopted and raised by Benjamin Wiley. He was married to Shelba Cullen on April 5, 1974 and she survives.
Other survivors include one son, Kevin (Tammy) Wiley of Holton; one daughter, Amanda Wiley and companion Pam O’Neal of Indianapolis; one grandson, Dominic Wiley. He was preceded in death by his parents, his aunt Cordia Lockridge, his sister Lucille Ryckman, and his brothers Don, Arthur, Gene, Paul, and William Egan.
Mr. Wiley was a 1965 graduate of North Vernon High School. He was a 14-year Navy veteran and served three tours in Vietnam. While with the Navy he served on the USS Constellation, USS Forrestal, and while serving on the USS Kitty Hawk participated in picking up splashed down Apollo astronauts. One of his “war stories” included having Elvis walk on to the military base and participate in a touch football game with his unit. Jackie received the Good Conduct Medal and the Meritorious Unit Commendation.
In civilian life Jackie was a self-employed metal smith fabricator. He had also been employed with Cummins and had worked at the Jefferson Proving Ground. He had taught welding at the Southeastern Career Center in Versailles and also at South Ripley High School. He had also been a Job Corp instructor at Camp Atterbury.
A celebration of Jackie’s life will be held on Saturday, March 7 at 3 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Karen Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at the Indiana Veterans Cemetery in Madison. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 p.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.
Mary Delay Begenwald
Mary Delay Begenwald, 88, of Versailles, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Ross Manor in Dillsboro. She was born at Hazard in Perry County, Kentucky on September 13, 1926, the daughter of Eugene and Nellie Deaton Gray. She was married to Roy Delay on January 18, 1946 and he preceded her in death on January 14, 1971. She was later married to William “Bud” Begenwald and he also preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Ricketts of Louisville, Kentucky, and Linda (Mark) Chance of Dillsboro; three grandchildren, Todd (Amber) Chance of Dillsboro, Traci (Ryan) Bruns of Milan, and Jason (Stacy) Ricketts of New Albany; six great-grandchildren; one brother Kenny (Elaine) Gray of Milan. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
Mrs. Begenwald was a 1946 graduate of Versailles High School. She was employed with the Delaney Wood Heel factory in Versailles and retired from Conn Organ in Madison. She enjoyed traveling in her retirement years. Mary was a 60 year member of the Versailles Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 7 at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Mike Cantrell officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services and memorials may be given to the Versailles Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
Letha Margaret Cutter Linkmeyer
Letha Margaret Cutter Linkmeyer, 92, of Farmers Retreat, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Dearborn County Hospital. She was born October 7, 1922, the fifth of eight children, to Harry and Mary Eleanor Ohlmansiek Cutter in Ohio County, Rising Sun.
In April of 1923, her parents moved to Dearborn County. She graduated from Dillsboro High School in 1940. She was married to James Linkmeyer in 1945. She was a line worker at Seagram’s for many years. Letha sewed her children’s clothing and made many beautiful quilts. She was also known to be a very good cook and was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Farmers Retreat.
Letha is survived by her son, Gary (Marilyn) Linkmeyer of Fairfield, OH; two grandchildren, Mike Linkmeyer and Karen Reiff; and two great grandchildren, Summer Linkmeyer and Lacey Horn; and her sister, Martha Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter Judy K. Droege; five brothers Edwin, Elmer, Lester, Loren and Orville; and one sister, Verna Gomez.
Friends may meet her family on Friday, March 6 from 5-8 p.m. at DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 7 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Farmers Retreat with Pastor Gary Wickert officiating. Interment will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or St. John’s Cemetery. DeVries Funeral Home, Dillsboro, is entrusted with arrangements.
Daniel Victor Clark
Daniel Victor Clark, 76, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday morning, March 3, 2015, at Dearborn County Hospital. He was born December 14, 1938 in Lawrenceburg, the son of Clarence Clark and Margaret Kinnett Clark.
Daniel attended Rising Sun High School thru the tenth grade, and earned his GED when he entered the US Army. He served three years in the army. In 1978 he was married to Martha Helen Schwier, who survives. Daniel was employed at Alton Box factory in Aurora and at Quality Pkg. Co. He enjoyed deer hunting with his friends.
He is survived by his wife, Martha; his son, Michael (Stefanie) Clark of Chesterton, IN; his daughter, Ida Ann Werner of Florence, KY; his grandchildren, Stacy, Jamie and Brooke Clark, Mathew and Sara Werner. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and four brothers.
Friends may meet the family at DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro on Friday, March 6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with funeral services following. Rev. Richard Kolaskey will officiate. Memorials may be given to the family. DeVries Funeral Home, Dillsboro, is entrusted with arrangements.
