Annual ORVC Winters Sports Awards Banquet held

The annual ORVC (Ohio River Valley Conference)Winter Sports Awards Banquet Program was held again this year at the Pines Restaurant in Madison on March 11.
The seven member school ORVC conference includes: the Madison Shawe Memorial Hilltoppers, Rising Sun Shiners, Milan Indians, Southwestern Hanover Rebels, Jac-Cen-Del Eagles, Switzerland County Pacers and this year’s host, the South Ripley Raiders.

Pictured left, on behalf of the ORVC, Switzerland Co. High School AD David Todd presented a plaque to South Ripley AD Deb Jett honoring her years of service. She is retiring at the end of the school year, after 37 years as an educator, coach and athletic director. Also pictured in the background is ORVC Secretary Travis Calvert. Thank you Miss Jett!
Gathering around 6:30 p.m., the ORVC boys and girls basketball all-stars, coaches and school staff met for a buffet meal before the presentation of the awards. Honored guests were welcomed before Southwestern Hanover AD, Tom Scroggins graciously offered a prayer before dismissing for the buffet style meal. Following the meal, SR Raider AD Deb Jett and ORVC Secretary Travis Calvert made the individual athlete award presentations. Switzerland Co. AD David Todd called AD Jett forward to make a presentation of a plaque honoring her service and commitment to making ORVC sports better over her 37 years as educator, coach and athletic director.
Honored athletes representing their respective schools were: Jac-Cen-Del; Evan Borgman, Kelsey Bowling, Jordan Day, Allen Hooton, Jenna Hughes, Alex Pilz and Lilly Simon, Milan; Grace Herzog and Kyle Meyer. So. Ripley; Brady Meyer, Elijah Roepke, Hayley Schwarte, Toria Tucker and Ty Tucker. Rising Sun; Austin and Kurtis Armstrong, Lucy Carrigan and Tiffany Vinup. S’western Han.; Tyler Ashby and Debbie Hardy. Shawe Hilltoppers; Claire Higgins and Dida Ikongshul and Switzerland County; Ben Curran, Eve Galbreath, Hunter Hayes, Hailee Lay, Mackenzie Mathews, and Riley Phagan and Brooke Todd.
