Jeanne Ann Heller
Jeanne Ann Heller, 80, of Versailles, passed away on February 19, 2015, at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison. She was born May 22, 1934 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to the late Mildred and Howard Lauersdorf. Complications at birth left her legs paralyzed, but she was a precocious person who was determined to live life to it’s fullest.
Jeanne attended Gaenslen School in Milwaukee. She learned to type so she could support herself as a secretary and also learned to play the piano. Even though these dreams were dashed by surgery for a brain cyst in her early 20s, which resulted in Jeanne’s left arm becoming paralyzed, she still soldiered on. Jeanne married the late Milan Heller, gave birth to her son, Jeff, and lived a completely independent life. Jeanne later found her true love in Jack Holmes of Milwaukee, WI. Jack made sure Jeanne had and knew how to use an electric wheelchair to maintain her independence before his death. After Jack’s passing she lived in Green Bay, Wisconsin, for a time and then moved to South Carolina, where her son was living. In 2002, Jeanne moved to Versailles. There, she became a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Osgood. Her family, friends and Church family were very precious to her and sustained her in her later years. Jeanne prized her collection of angel statues, loved to cook, enjoyed music and socializing.
Jeanne will be missed by her son Jeff Heller of North Vernon; her brother Gerald (Diane) Lauersdorf of Chandler, AZ; brother Todd (Terrie) Lauersdorf of Menomonee Falls, WI; sister Dianne (Bill) Hensley of Rio Rancho, NM; her grandchildren, Kapri, Troy, Kristine, and Jeffrey; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Gail Hall.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 21, at 10:30 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church, 328 South Sycamore Street, Osgood. Internment will be at a later date at Wisconsin Memorial Park Cemetery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Teruko Tabata Furiya
Teruko Tabata Furiya, 84, of Versailles, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2015, at the Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. Born in Tokyo, Japan on November 9, 1930, Teruko was married to James Ichiro Furiya and is survived by two sons: Keven Furiya of Seattle, Washington and Alvin Furiya of Noblesville; and one daughter, Linda Furiya of Shelburne, Vermont; and also two grandsons.
Raised in Tokyo, Japan, Teruko was the daughter of a rice merchant. As a teenager, she survived the bombing and reconstruction of Tokyo following its surrender during World War II. Later, she worked in banking and human resources at Sumitomo Bank by day and enrolled in a tailoring academy by night. In her 20s, she nearly succumbed to tuberculosis. Given the antidote, she recovered gaining a new lease on life where she took up skiing and hiking the Japan Alps and nature photography. Teruko was a certified Japanese tea ceremony instructor. In 1959, she moved to the United States and married James Furiya. Teruko and her husband lived in Versailles for more than 50 years. She was best known for her professional sewing skills and love of cooking, food, and travel. Mr. and Mrs. Furiya attended Tyson Methodist Church.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles, is in charge of arrangements.
Pamela Sue McAdams
Pamela Sue McAdams, 55, of Versailles, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015. Services will be held all in one day, Monday, March 16 at the Church of Christ, Versailles, with calling from 3-4 p.m. and a memorial celebration immediately following. Esther M. Levi
Esther M. Levi, 91, of Aurora passed away Tuesday March 10, 2015, at Drake Hospital at Cincinnati. Esther was born Saturday April 1, 1923, in KY the daughter of Horace and Maude (Dudgeon) Block. She married Eugene Levi September 6, 1940 and he preceded her in death April 7, 1998.
Esther was a homemaker and a employee of Campbell Hausfeld in Harrison, OH. Esther was a member of the Community United Methodist Church in Manchester since 1945, Manchester Fireman’s Ladies Auxiliary, and Hummingbird Home economics Club. She enjoyed baking, quilting, gardening, flowers, taking pictures, but her greatest enjoyment was her family.
Esther is survived by her Sons: Charles (Shirley) Levi of Rising Sun; Dale (Linda) Levi of Manchester, IN; daughters: Donna Dell of Moores Hill; Deborah (Steve) Walker of Aurora; Brother: Richard Block of Fort Wayne, IN; sisters Dorothy Jewett of Dillsboro, Mary Kieffer of Versailles, Carolyn Hollins of Middletown, OH, 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, sister, granddaughters, several nephews and niece.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday March 14, 2015 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan with Pastor Duane Loos officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery at Moores Hill.
