in JCD vs. SR upcoming battle

The ever continuing and enjoyable sports rivalry between Jac-Cen-Del -Del Eagles and South Ripley Raiders fans will highlight as their boys 2014-15 final regular season basketball game finds not only the between season bragging rights, but the Ripley Publishing Co. Inc. Traveling Pride Trophy hanging in the balance once again.
Coach Josh Blankinship’s Milan Indians ended the season last year in possession of it and were victorious in hanging onto it against the South Ripley Raiders, and only recently gave it up to JCD with the Eagles win over them. Now, the final SR/JCD battle will determine who holds it for 2014-15.
Past earners of the trophy over the years were: 86-88 SR, 88-89 JCD, 89-90 Milan, 90-91 SR, 91-94 JCD, 94-96 SR, 96-2000 JCD, 00-01 Milan, 01-06 SR, 06-07 JCD, 07-08 SR, 10-11 JCD, 11-13 SR, 13-14 Milan with 14-15 TBA Decided.

A girls Pride Trophy also has a history since inception in 1986-87, with the Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagles, Milan Lady Indians and the South Ripley Lady Raiders teams in contention for it. Past winners are: 86-87 JCD, 87-89 SR, 89-91 JCD, 91-92 Milan, 92-95 SR, 95-97 JCD, 97-98 SR, 98-99 Milan, 99-2005 SR, 2005-10 JCD, 10-14 SR, 13-14 SR, 14-15 JCD and current winner for 2014-15, are the Regional bound, seven consecutive time Class 1A Sectional 60 Champs and 6-0 ORVC Champion, Coach Scott Smith led Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagles. FYI
Defending the trophy means that during regular season games between JCD, South Ripley and Milan the holder of the trophy will bring it to the game and the winner of that game will possess it until the next meeting between the teams. Whichever team ends the season in possession of the trophy has their team name and the year etched on the trophy plate. The Ripley County Tournament and Sectional Tournament games, though a part of each team’s regular season, are not eligible for transferal of the trophy.
