Jac-Cen-Del Eagles Boys Soccer Team claims 2015 ORVC Champion Title
Gary Franklin
SPORTS EDITOR
Another extremely productive boys soccer team venture for Jac-Cen-Del High School under the leadership of Derek Jones, the son of veteran Eagles Coach Mark Jones, closed the deal with an ORVC Championship title. Jac-Cen-Del won over Southwestern 6-3 on October 1 at Jac-Cen-Del High School before playing their last scheduled season game against the South Ripley Raiders. This allowed the Eagles to pit mostly JV players on the field against South Ripley in a bitter cold and wet final game, while most of their varsity watched in street clothes from outside the field of action, earning some rest and the security of not injuring players, before sectional action commences. Sacrificed in doing so with a sweeping Raider’s victory in the season final regular game was the “Coach Matt Obendorf Memorial Traveling Trophy” which went back to the trophy case of the South Ripley Raiders.
