Charles H. “Charlie” Schmidt

Charles H. “Charlie” Schmidt, 77, of Milan, passed away at the IU Medical Center, Indianapolis, on Monday, September 22, 2014. He was born Monday, November 9, 1936, in Osgood, the son of Edward and Sadie (Young) Schmidt. Charlie married Jewell (Wilder) Schmidt on Oct. 5, 1957, and she survives.

Charlie was a member of the St. Pius Catholic Church; he worked as a farmer and a driver for UPS in the Versailles location. Charlie was an avid sports fan, loved hunting, fishing, doing yard work, gardening and spending time with his family and friends.

Charlie is survived by wife of 57 years Jewell Schmidt of Milan; sons Mike (Anita) Schmidt of Osgood, Gary (Rhonda) Schmidt of Milan and Brian (Kelly) Schmidt of Milan; nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Sadie Schmidt and one son Ron Schmidt.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 25, at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan, with Father Frank Eckstein officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m., Thursday, also at the funeral home. Memorials may be to Shriner’s or Cancer Society.

Estol Edmund May

Estol Edmund May, age 80, of Duncanville, Texas, was born February 27, 1934, in Benham, the son of Alta Irene and William Henry May. He passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014, due to complications from Lewy Body Dementia. Estol grew up in Versailles, and moved to Duncanville, Texas, in 1968.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Lois Cash May; three children, Randy May and wife, Susan of Garland, Texas, Sharon May Walker of Tuscola, Texas, and Steve May and wife, Jennifer of China Springs, Texas; six grandchildren: Ashley, Colby, Doug, Ben, Jaret, and Zach; two great-grandchildren, Kayley and Austin; brother, Earl May of Rexville; and sister, Lora Swinney of Versailles.

Funeral services were held Monday, September 22, at Jaynes Memorial Chapel in Duncanville, Texas. Estol was laid to rest at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Texas. Please make memorial contributions to the Lewy Body Dementia Association. Jaynes Memorial Chapel in Duncanville, Texas, was in charge of arrangements.

Ethel Gay Peters, 83, of Milan, formerly of Osgood, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. Services are pending at Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood.
