Milan faculty honors Indians varsity football athletes

Gary Franklin
SPORTS EDITOR

On Friday night, August 15, at Milan High School, the varsity football teams season officially found competition from another school, the neighboring South Dearborn Knights, for an annually controlled game situation team scrimmage.
Upon entry to the game through the gates, the familiar faces of MHS Co-ed Cross Country Coach Todd Yates, Sarah Volz and Linda Meyers as gatekeepers greeted the crowd, getting the sports season off once again to a positive start. Proudly showing solid support of their student football team athletes, Milan staff wore the individual players game jerseys, for the pre-season scrimmage. A total of 41 tribesmen fill the ranks of this year's varsity squad that includes 13 freshmen.

The scrimmage proved to be somewhat effective in that weaknesses were noted as well as positivity. As the first game of their new season, the tribe will be traveling to Rushville High School this coming Friday night for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
