Gaberella Wiley Parker
Gaberella Wiley Parker, 95, of Versailles, passed away Friday, May 23, 2014 at the Waters of Clifty Falls at Madison. She was born at Stamping Ground in Scott County, Kentucky on January 12, 1919, the daughter of Edward and Addie Strange Wiley. She was married to Willard Parker on June 17, 1939 and he preceded her in death on November 7, 1996.
Survivors include two daughters, Gardella (Milton) Richards of Otisco, and Sandra (Larry) Noah of Versailles; four grandchildren, Aura (Ben) McKinley of Jeffersonville, Alena (Matt) Kieffer of Evansville, Daniel (Leighanne) Noah of Greenfield, and David (Amanda) Noah of Greensburg; great grandchildren, Maela McKinley, Cash Kieffer, Carter Kieffer, and Addison, Andrew, Derek, and Brennan Noah; two sisters, Evelyn Dempsey of Frankfort, Kentucky, and Marcille Stewart of Georgetown, Kentucky.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Pauline Payton, Saraphine Hall, and Sue, Mary, and Bertha Wiley, and her brothers Frances, William, Alvin, Coleman, Joseph, Thurston, and Benton Wiley.
Mrs. Parker was a former supervisor for the Union Garment Company in Frankfort, Kentucky and in 1961 she began work for Reliance Electric in Madison where she retired in 1985. Gaberella was a member of the Versailles Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 27 at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial was in the Grandview Memorial Garden near Madison. Memorials may be given to the Ripley County Humane Society or the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.
Thomas Edward Doolan
Thomas Edward Doolan, 82 of Osgood, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014. Funeral services will be held all in one day, Thursday, June 5 at Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood, with visitation from 1-3 p.m. and funeral services immediately following. Burial will be in the Perseverance Cemetery near Osgood. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice. Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood, is in charge of arrangements. www.nealsfuneralhome.net.
Cindy Brooks
Cindy Brooks, 61, of Benham, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014, at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison. She was born in Indianapolis on August 18, 1952 and was married to Gary Brooks on January 31, 1987 and he survives.
Other survivors include four daughters, Jill (Rob) Winter, Melinda (Sam) Barthelow, and Autumn Anderson and her fiancé Randall all of Indianapolis, and Kathy Vandine and her fiancé Eric of Marion; 10 grandchildren; one brother, Ron (Shirley) Loos of New Palestine.
Mrs. Brooks was a 1970 graduate of Warren Central High School in Indianapolis. She was a homemaker, and a former employee of Kelley’s Greenhouse in North Vernon and the Versailles State Park.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 5 at 2 p.m. at the Benham United Methodist Church with Pastor Jerry Brooks officiating. Burial will be in the Benham Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday at the church from 1 p.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Benham United Methodist Church or the Benham Cemetery in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
