Susan M. Huffmeyer
Susan M. Huffmeyer, 48, of Napoleon, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014 at her home. She was born at Batesville on September 24, 1965. She was married to Douglas Huffmeyer on November 15, 1986 and he survives.
Other survivors include her parents Raymond and Rose (Simmermeyer) Weisenbach of Morris; her mother-in-law Alice Huffmeyer of Napoleon; five daughters Holly (Matt) Holland of Milroy, Audrey (Jeff) Fuller of Osgood, Heather, a sophomore at Purdue University, Lindsey and Allyson both at home; one son Corey at home; three brothers Joe (Bonnie) Weisenbach and John Weisenbach both of Greensburg, and Jeff (Cindy) Weisenbach of Batesville; four sisters Kim (Leroy) Hountz of Sunman, Shari (Mark) Strassell of Morris, Sandy (Dave) Volk, and Kristy Weisenbach both of Greensburg.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law Norman Huffmeyer, and her brother-in-law Mike Huffmeyer.
Mrs. Huffmeyer was a 1983 graduate of East Central High School and a 1985 graduate of the Institute of Medical Technology in Cincinnati. She had worked for Margaret Mary Community Hospital as a medical assistant. Susan was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Napoleon.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 15 at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Jennifer Owen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be given to Relay for Life, the Hospice of Margaret Mary Hospital, or St. John Lutheran Cemetery in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles.
Jocelyn Nicole & Shaylyn Lee Spurlock
Jocelyn Nicole and Shaylyn Lee Spurlock, 2 of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014. They were the daughters of Brad Anthony Spurlock and Bryeanna Lee Conley Spurlock. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 12 at the Hope Baptist Church, Dillsboro.

Bernice M. Peters, 89 of Decatur County died Friday, April 11, 2014. Funeral services were held Monday, April 14 at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville. Burial was at the Kingston Cemetery. Harry Wayne Althoff
Harry Wayne Althoff, age 81, of Bear Branch, was born November 23, 1932, in Fairview, the loving son of the late, Dallas Ward and Rachel Minnie (Rimstidt) Althoff. Harry passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at the Baptist East Health Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky.
He was raised in Fairview, Indiana and was a 1950 graduate of Vevay High School. Harry was united in marriage on December 13, 1952, in Vevay, to the late, Wilma M. Oatman and to this union arrived a son, Alan Wayne to bless their home.
Harry and Wilma shared nearly 34 years of marriage together until her death on September 23, 1986. Harry was later united in marriage on March 20, 1987, at the Olive Branch Baptist Church in Bear Branch to Ethel M. (Lewis) Curry. Harry and Ethel shared 27 loving years of marriage together until his death.
In 1954, Harry began a partnership with his father-in-law, Everett Oatman in the Althoff & Oatman Feed Mill in Bear Branch. Later, he co-owned and co-operated A & W Milling Inc. in Bear Branch with Howard G. Wiesmann for 44 years. He co-owned and co-operated the Bear Branch General Store with Everett Oatman and later with Howard G. Wiesmann, from 1952-1964.
On August 3, 1968, Harry began serving on the Board of Directors at Southeastern REMC in Osgood where he became secretary on August 13, 1977 through April 1, 1995 and became president on April 1, 1995 until present. On February 19, 1990 until present, he served on the Board of Directors at Hoosier Energy in Bloomington. He was formerly a Republican Precinct Committeemen for Pike Township in Ohio County for several years.
He was a current deacon for the Olive Branch Baptist Church in Bear Branch where he served faithfully for many years. He was a charter member of the Bear Branch Volunteer Fire Department, from 1969 to present, where he was the current fire chief. He was a former reserve deputy for Ohio County Sheriff’s Department, from 1970-1982.
Harry served on the Building Committee for Ohio County Elementary Middle School in Rising Sun. He was a member of the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association & the Farmers Mutual Aid Society for 20 years.
Harry resided in the Bear Branch Community since 1952. He will be remembered for his love of keeping a meticulous garden and for his love of being a beekeeper. Harry enjoyed farming all of his life in his spare time and raising cattle. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him in the communities that he served.
Harry will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 27 years: Ethel M. (Lewis) Althoff of Bear Branch; his son: Alan Wayne Althoff (Connie) of Bear Branch; his stepsons: Rick Curry (Kim) of Moorefield and Bobby Dale Curry of Roseburg, OR; his stepdaughter: Mary Jane “Janie” Konkle (Steven) of Vevay; his grandchildren: Tiffany Taylor (Mitch) of Rising Sun, Evan Althoff of Bear Branch, Torrey Curry (Carrie) of Fort Wayne, Tiffany Young (Brad) of Pleasant, Tessia Andrews (Chris) of Moorefield, Alisha Konkle of Lebanon, Jayde Curry of Roseburg, OR, Kayla Konkle of Scottsburg, Morgan Curry of Portland, OR and Kyle Konkle of Vevay; his great grandchildren: Jaymason, Aliya, Jade, Michael, Matthew, Avery, Owen, Aaron and Kyla; sister: Barbara Dowdy of Vevay; his brother: Carl Althoff (Sandy) of Fairview; his several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents: Dallas Ward Althoff, died October 28, 1995 & Rachel Minnie (Rimstidt) Althoff, died March 18, 2010; his first wife: Wilma M. (Oatman) Althoff, died September 23, 1986; his brother: Charles Laddie Althoff, died May 26, 2006; his brother-in-laws: William “Bill” Dowdy, died December 6, 2006, Howard G. Wiesmann, died January 17, 2010 and Bob Brown; his sister-in-laws: Donna Althoff, died April 5, 2007, Velma L. Wiesmann, died August 6, 2010 and Pearl Brown.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 12, by Pastor Patrick Lanman, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, Vevay. Burial followed in the Olive Branch Cemetery, Bear Branch.

Bruce O. Richardson
Bruce O. Richardson, 66 of Osgood, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014 at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born at Taylorsville in Spencer County, Kentucky on October 3, 1947, the son of Vernon and Rose Ann Harley Richardson. He was married to Louella Cummings on December 31, 1977 and she survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Amy (Jason) Richardson-Lambert of Greensburg, April (Josh) Richardson-Kissell of Versailles, and Alisha (Adam) Eadens of Versailles; four grandchildren; one nephew Jason Richardson of Manilla. He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather James Perry, and his brothers Lloyd Richardson and Roy Allen Richardson.
Mr. Richardson was a 1966 graduate of Jac-Cen-Del High School. He worked for 13 years for the Ripley County Farm Bureau Co-op in Osgood and then worked for an additional 13 years for Wal-Mart in Greensburg. Bruce was also a Ham Radio operator.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 17 at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Garden near Madison. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Ripley County Humane Society or the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.

Navaeh Gale Gallagher was born Wednesday, April 9, 2014 the daughter of Christopher Gallagher and Brittany Miles. She passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014.
