Funeral home finishes three-phase renovation

The Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home recently completed the final phase of a three-phase renovation of their facilities on South Ripley Estates Drive in Versailles.

The first phase consisted of a new garage, expanded casket showroom, and the development of a second visitation chapel completed in 2008.

The second chapel has a seating capacity of 70 and is equipped with an in-house camera and sound for overflow from the main chapel.  In early 2013, the kitchen area and bathrooms were enlarged.

The third and final phase was completed in December of 2013 with a 900 square foot addition of the main chapel, increasing seating capacity of that chapel to 170. Mike Stratton, co-owner of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, said the addition should better serve their guests.

“We want to be as accommodating as possible, especially during people’s time of need. Making room for guests to be comfortable is part of it, and also a way to thank the community for the support in the past 14 years," commented Stratton.

All construction was done by R. B. Adams Construction in Versailles, who built the original building.

The Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home was established on September 5, 2002, and the funeral home has conducted over 1,000 services at their Versailles facility.
