Henry H. Groves, 74, of Dabney, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2014, at Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg. He was born at Covington, Kentucky on December 25, 1939, the son of Gilford and Marguerite Green Groves. He was married to Judy Collins on July 22, 1961, and she preceded him in death on April 7, 2012.
Survivors include two sons, Eric Groves of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, and Jeff (Laura) Groves of Dillsboro; four grandchildren Sierra (Andy) Dole of Versailles, Dylan Groves of West Lafayette, and Zachary and Sean Groves of Dillsboro; one great granddaughter Madelyn Grace Dole; also his cousin Helen Boone of Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Mr. Groves was a 1958 graduate of Highland High School in Highlands Heights, Kentucky. He was employed with BCA in Greensburg from 1966 to 2003 where he worked as a screw machine operator. Henry also served as vice-president of the United Steelworkers Local.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 22 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Paul Wenning officiating. Burial will be in the Adams Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. Memorials may be given to Rescue 69 or the cemetery in care of the funeral home.
