Mildred M. Kamman

Mildred M. Kamman, 94 of Friendship, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Ross Manor in Dillsboro. She was born near Cross Plains on August 25, 1919, the daughter of George and Mary Hoffmeyer Acre. She was married to Eldred Kamman in April of 1940 and he preceded her in death on July 19, 1978.

Survivors include two sons, Glen Kamman of Friendship and Keith (Susie) Kamman of Conroe, Texas; one daughter, Carol Steele of Fishers; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Ora Alsop of Cross Plains. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son-in-law Ralph Steele, her sister Hazel Wolsterman, and her brother Russell Acre.

Mrs. Kamman was a 1937 graduate of Versailles High School. She served as postmaster for the Friendship Post Office for 33 years, and along with her husband owned and operated Kamman’s Grocery in Friendship from 1958 to 1982.

Mildred was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Dewberry for over 70 years.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 6 at 11 a.m. at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Dewberry with Rev. Richard Wilkie officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and will also be held at the church.

Memorials may be given to St. Pauls Lutheran Church or the Friendship Fire Department in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.

Rev. George D. Savage

Rev. George D. Savage, 75 of Milan, passed away Monday, December 2, 2013. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 5, at 11 a.m. at the Route 46 Pentecostal Church at St. Leon. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery at Moores Hill. Visitation will be prior to the service at the church from 9-11 a.m. Memorials may be given to the church. Moneida Byard Dunaway

Moneida Byard Dunaway, 82, of Valrico, FL and formerly of Versailles, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the Hospice House in Ruskin, FL. She was born in Hamilton, Ohio on September 30, 1931, the daughter of Monroe and Lydia Haase (both deceased).

She graduated from Milan High School in 1949. She had owned and operated the Versailles IGA.

Survivors are her husband Earl Dunaway; two daughters, Connie Tewmey of Valrico and Mona Adkins of Sarasota; one sister, Alberta (Otto) Smith of Denver, Colorado; nephews, Dirk Smith of Denver and Eric Smith of Washington, DC; half brother Eddie Haase of California; half sister Gayle Holyoak of Hemet, California; grandchildren, Dane Tewmey, Danielle Davis, Kyle Adkins, Michelle Adkins, and Miles Dyer; and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in Florida. Memorials may be given to LifePath Hospice Inc, 3725 Upper Creek Drive, Ruskin, FL 33573.

Jerry Wayne Brashear

Jerry Wayne Brashear, Sr., 57, of North Vernon, passed away on December 1, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in the Shelby Christian Church Cemetery in Ripley County.
