Annual ‘Run the Park’ 5K held at Versailles State Park

Positive interaction for community and the Versailles State Park was once again evident on Saturday morning, November 9, as the annual “Run the Park” event was held.
Thanks to his dedication to the sport of running and helping others live healthier as result of it, Versailles resident Jim Cole, the South Ripley High School Cross Country Team Coach, again organized the annually well-attended event.
The race started at approximately 10 a.m. and was a little on the airy side with just a bit of a bite in the air; however, it soon gave way to warmer temperatures, as the sun rose higher in the sky.
Again the event was scored and recorded by Greg Stuart of Stuartroadracing.com.
Runners were started, and a minute later, walkers were set to the pace. This year, runners wore white bibs, while walkers wore yellow to help differentiate the intent of the competitor. Many door prizes were drawn as race results were calculated.
