M.A. “Pete” Schierloh
M.A. “Pete” Schierloh, 73 of Dillsboro, passed away Monday, October 7, 2013 at his home following a long illness. He was born on May 1, 1940 in Springdale, Ohio, the son of Stanley Schierloh and Mary Josephine Maynard Schierloh.
Pete graduated from Wyoming High School in Cincinnati in 1959, and on July 2, 1960 he married his high school sweetheart, Linda Noe. Pete had a 45-year career with Proctor & Gamble as a technician. He coached little league football in Cincinnati and later on in Dillsboro.
Pete was an amateur radio operator, and received his license in 1960. He was a member of Dearborn County Chapter of R.A.C.E.S. He was a member of the Dillsboro Church of Christ where he served as an elder. He was a member of Promise Keepers and of Hopewell Masonic Lodge #80 in Dillsboro. He absolutely loved fishing and hunting and spent countless hours in these activities with his son.
Pete is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his son, Peter (Sheila) Schierloh of Florence, KY; his daughter, Laurie (Richard) Bratten of Denver, CO; four grandchildren, Kelli, Chelsea, Connor, and Cody; and his sister, Peg Wimmer, of Springdale, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 12, at 5 p.m. at the Dillsboro Church of Christ, 11771 Old US 50, with Rev. Otto Conley officiating. Friends may meet his family on Saturday from 3-5 p.m. at the church. There will be a masonic service on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. Interment will be next week at Oakhill Cemetery in Glendale.
Memorials in his name may be given to his church or as a memorial to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Cincinnati or in Lexington, KY. Arrangements are entrusted to DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro.
Virginia K. Schneider
Virginia K. Schneider, 87 of Lookout, passed away Monday, October 7, 2013 at her home. She was born Thursday, July 22, 1926 at Hardburly, Kentucky, the daughter of Oscar (Democrat) and Edna (Gayheart) Grigsby. She married Walter Clark in 1945 and he preceded her in death in 1952; later she married Edward Schneider in 1954 and he preceded her in death in 2010.
Virginia was a nurse at the Whitlatch clinic in Milan, and also for Fernald but she put in 19 years at Hill-Rom. She is a member of the Delaware United Methodist Church and loved to travel and spend time with her family and friends.
Virginia is survived by daughters: Debbie (husband Dennis) Carroll of Osgood, Karen (husband Harold) Griffin of Sunman; grandchildren: Matthew (wife Donnelle) Griffin, Joe and Aaron Carroll, and Andrea (husband Travis) Rohrig. She was preceded in death by Walter Clark, Edward Schneider, and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 10 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan with Pastor Tommy Bentley officiating. Burial will follow in the Craven Cemetery south of Milan. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
