Becca Wagner, daughter
of Dennis and Flora Wagner of Napoleon,
and Jac-Cen-Dels 2011 Valedictorian,
discovered her career path while eating
lunch with her friends. My favorite
part of the school day is lunch because
I get to hang out with my friends and talk,
said Wagner. This helped me realize
that I should choose a career where I get
to interact with others because I love being
around people.

T Tornado, high winds, wind shear, thunderstorm
- whatever the National Weather Service decides
to call it, the storm that took a cut through Ripley
County Monday night left debris and damage wherever
it touched.
According to Ripley County Emergency Management
Director Wayne Peace, the weather service has determined
that a small tornado - a FO - the lowest on the
scale, did touch down somewhere between Milan and
Sunman.

Aiming high must be the norm for the Milan
High School Class of 2011. There was not
just one valedictorian but three who will
share the honor: Katie Dickey, Elaina Voss
and Arielle Noel.
For each of the valedictorians, their mothers
were the most influential person during
their high school years. Kaitlin Dickey,
daughter of Mary and Dave Lynch and Ron
Dickey, said that her mother is the reason
she has done well in school.

Plains woman heads up effort to help tornado victims
in Alabama
|
Wanda English Burnett
Editor
Reaching out to tornado victims in Tuscaloosa, Alabama,
might seem like a stretch to some, but not Tammy
Welch, who says she is basing her effort on the
scripture that says you shall love your neighbor
as yourself.
Welch is spearheading the effort to not only gather
items for those who have endured these horrific
storms, but to take the items to them and volunteer
there for a while.
I feel like its something I can do,
Welch told The Versailles Republican. She
said hearing about the tragic losses touched her
heart and she knew she needed to do something.
